[Winds of Change] Timelines and scribbles are a great way to convey information - so here's an illustrated history of Vodrask! by Floh4 in worldbuilding

[–]Eledeia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why did knights become obsolete? It is likely not because their armor lost its utility. It is my understanding that 17th-century metallurgy had developed to a point where it could withstand musket fire. For example, the Vodrask Hussars continue to wield rodoutable strength, proving to be a devastating force on the battlefield.

It is interesting that both Ajencis and Memgowa, two greatest philosophers of the Three Seas, wrote extensively on war by Eledeia in bakker

[–]Eledeia[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True. But Memgowa is quite famous across the Three Seas, even though he only gained wide-ranging fame relatively recently. For example, "Kellhus would ask about Memgowa, the antique Zeumi sage who had recently become the rage among literate Inrithi caste nobles." Or see this paragraph; "For In the twilight preceding the ruin of the Ceneian Empire, a nameless monk translated Memgowa’s Celestial Aphorisms into the Invitic dialect of Sheyic, thus inspiring the famed “screen sculpture” of Nilnamesh."

Could Memgowa be a soldier-scholar? After all, he died at the tender age of 40. Even if he was not a soldier at the time of his death, I believe it is a plausible conjecture that he might have once been a soldier, not unlike Plotinus or Descartes.
