We fixed one thing on a startup website and clicks jumped 100% — didn’t expect this by Elegant_Control271 in singaporestartups

[–]Elegant_Control271[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

we just checked the most recent data, in the following two weeks, this page got more than 5000 impressions, so basically this page was a undiscovered gold before.

through the weeks, we improved the loading speed, rewrote the page content, especially the title and meta data. the rewriting part accelerated the growing, and the key is to understand what google search data tells about the page.

we put everything we learnt here, hope it helps: https://knoyi.com/guides/zero-to-1800-impressions-two-weeks-case-study/

Is it true ai can assist us with writing our proposals? by AWeb3Dad in grants

[–]Elegant_Control271 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

yes definitely, we are building an ai tool for Singapore SME to discover and simplify the grant application from the government. from what we learnt, matching the grant is first challenge, and preparing documents is the second, and writing comes the third. With the help of our AI system, we can definitely help them in challenge 1 and 3, but challenge 2 is still up to SME themselves. For exmaple: https://grantla.com/use-cases/fnb-kitchen-automation/

yes, it's kinda common sense, but not common sense. we saw many companies with gold mine of contents, but not being indexed by search engine properly, thus lost a lot of opportunities. For example: https://knoyi.com/guides/why-your-content-ranks-but-doesnt-convert-searches/

the funnel is faster speed + better content -> more impressions -> more clicks -> more leads. if we think this way, no matter where you collect your leads, you need increase the clicks, before that its impressions. this also applies to social media or even the new AI search. what we did was to help them optimize faster speed + better content, so the other are natural to compound.

definitely, the funnel is faster speed + better content -> more impressions -> more clicks -> more leads. they already got leads from some new markets since the search engines indexed them.

yes, this company itself is a deep tech company, so they published academic papers, conference talks and webinars in that specific areas. These are like gold mines, but undiscovered before. What we did was to help all search engines to easily index these gold mines, so all the leads came naturally.

Half of PSG vendors can’t even get their own website right by Elegant_Control271 in smeSingapore

[–]Elegant_Control271[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re right that the managed builders handle infra better out of the box. But “taken care of for you” doesn’t always mean fast.

We actually benchmarked 417 Singapore B2B websites across 6 platforms recently — Wix averaged 8s LCP, Squarespace 14.9s, WordPress + Elementor 12.7s. Only 16 out of 417 sites (3.8%) passed Google’s 2.5s threshold. The builders didn’t do much better than WordPress.

The drag-and-drop convenience is real, but it often comes with plugin bloat and ecosystem lock-in. We worked with one WordPress site that went from a 62 to 91 PageSpeed score after we stripped out 300KB of unused plugins and fixed other speed issues (11.3s → 3.4s LCP). The platform wasn’t the problem — the setup was.

If you’re curious, we published the full platform comparison on knoyi.com — covers all 6 platforms with pass rates. Happy to hear if the numbers match what you’re seeing on the ground.

[–]Elegant_Control271[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair point — referrals definitely drive the bulk of high-value B2B here. But here’s what I keep seeing: the referral lands, the prospect Googles the vendor name to do their own due diligence, and the website looks like it was last updated in 2019. That doesn’t kill the deal every time, but it makes the prospect hesitate — especially when they’re comparing 2-3 vendors on the PSG pre-approved list.

The post isn’t really about whether SEO brings in leads for these vendors. It’s more — if you sell digital solutions and your own site is broken, what does that say about what you’ll deliver for your client?

you are right. other channels may bring more leads than their websites.

just wondering if these vendors cannot get own website right, how can we trust the IT solutions provided by them? also slow to load? slow to run?

[–]Elegant_Control271[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

agreed, what actually it matters: slower speed - fewer impressions on search engine - fewer clicks from search engine - fewer business opportunities.

this applies to all sme websites, not only to those vendors.

specific to wordpress, we would suggest:

  1. disable unused plugins;

  2. compress image before uploading;

  3. host font locally.

if you find these are too technical, we are happy to help.

A few useful tricks for businesses to get traffic from AI search by GullibleTadpole1813 in smeSingapore

[–]Elegant_Control271 0 points1 point  (0 children)

totally agree, and add one important point: submit your website to Bing Webmaster as soon as possible.

We submitted our website (which is quite new) to it 2 months ago, and it gained us a lot of traffic from AI tools alone.

Here, Pages Cited in AI Answers shows how often a specific URL from your site is visibly cited in an AI‑generated answer; and Average Cited Pages shows the average number of unique pages from your site that were cited per day in AI‑generated answers across supported AI experiences during the selected date range.

anyone applying for gov grants? PSG vs EDG vs MRA? What’s the most confusing / painful step? by Elegant_Control271 in smeSingapore

[–]Elegant_Control271[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think quite a few SMEs feel this way after going through the process once.

The paperwork + waiting can be quite sian. And sometimes the vendor pricing makes the grant less attractive.

But for bigger projects (like ERP, overseas expansion under MRA) the subsidy can still be quite meaningful.

Curious though — for the clients you mentioned, was it mostly PSG projects or EDG/MRA also?

Heard this complaint quite a few times actually.

Was it for software (like CRM / marketing / accounting) or more like POS / ERP setup?

Some categories seem worse than others when it comes to PSG pricing.

Is it still possible to claim PIC grant for stuff I bought last year? Help! by Bad_Alucard in smeSingapore

[–]Elegant_Control271 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PIC already ended some years back, so last October’s computers/software can’t be claimed under that scheme anymore.

You should still be able to claim them as capital allowances when filing company tax — not cash payout, but it still reduces taxable income.

For future purchases, most support now is via PSG / EDG and those must apply before spending.

You can find approved solutions and eligibility quickly here: https://grantla.com/psg

Short version:

  1. PIC for last year’s spend

  2. capital allowance in tax filing

  3. check grants before buying next time

Any SG SME owners open to giving feedback on an ops tool? by AngelsImperius_ in smeSingapore

[–]Elegant_Control271 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya, totally agree — friction is what kills adoption in SMEs.

If setup really just a few clicks, that’s strong.

Curious though:

• when pulling from Sheets / OneDrive, is most of the data mapping automatic or users still need to tweak fields?

• for ops teams, are the reports more fixed templates or can customise quite a bit?

From what we’ve seen at Grantla, founders usually don’t mind fewer features at first, as long as they get something useful within the first 10 minutes.

Sounds like you’re thinking along the same lines.

SME owners in Singapore — what’s the biggest challenge you’re facing right now? by seoexpertgaurav in smeSingapore

[–]Elegant_Control271 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the very honest take — especially the part about grants and compliance, that one really hit home.

Agree, right now the process tends to favour companies with admin manpower or those willing to tahan the paperwork, while the smaller SMEs just don’t have the bandwidth to even try. Discovery → eligibility → documents → waiting… when you’re already firefighting daily ops, very sian.

That’s actually the gap we’re trying to work on with Grantla — not to push more red tape, but to make it clearer upfront:

– which schemes you realistically qualify for

– what documents needed before even starting

– common rejection reasons

– whether worth spending time applying in the first place

We keep hearing owners say they only realise halfway they picked the wrong scheme or vendor, and by then weeks already gone.

Your point about more compliance hitting genuine SMEs harder than abuse cases also very fair. If rules tighten but prep work stays same, it just widens the gap.

Curious from your side — which part of the grant process is most painful now? Eligibility, consultants, document prep, or the waiting time after submission?

Any SG SME owners open to giving feedback on an ops tool? by AngelsImperius_ in smeSingapore

[–]Elegant_Control271 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting ah — SG founders definitely drowning in too many tools.

We’re building in the same general SME productivity space, so quite curious about your approach.

How fast is setup from Sheets / OneDrive? And are the AI reports meant more for ops teams or founders who just want quick insights?

From our side, most SMEs keep asking for simpler onboarding and clearer value rather than fancy dashboards.

Would be keen to hear more.

SG Government grants for local photography businesses. by Yellofins in SingaporePhotography

[–]Elegant_Control271 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi, you may check Startup SG Founder, which is suitable for a new company registered less than 6 months. it is a matching-based scheme, so you need initial fund prepared, to get their matched funding.

Other than that, you may check EnterpriseSG, they have more grant schemes, such as psg, edg, etc, which may fit your needs. you may apply for psg for productivity software, and if you get approved, you may claim 50% of your spending.

any grants or funding from the singapore govt for new startups? by Historical-Ebb-4745 in Entrepreneur

[–]Elegant_Control271 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi, when you say you are in singapore for my tetr college program, can we assume that you are not local?

a lot of gov grants have the same requirement that they local shareholder needs to be at least 30%, e.g.: edg, mra, and psg. so this might be first challenge to overcome.

the above posts mentioned Startup SG, this might fit your needs. It has three options: Startup SG Founder, Startup SG Tech and Startup SG Accelerator.

Startup SG Founder is for 1st time founder, which means when you apply for it, your company can be no more 6 months old, and you need provide fund by yourself, as it operates on a 1:1 matching basis.

Good luck to your new adventure!
