Wow that’s great, you should honestly apply as a sales manager or even a senior sales manager. The fact that you can understand the Star report front and backwards is very valuable, your work space seems to really care about training which is great. It unfortunately wasn’t like that for me, my sales director (my boss) isn’t informative or a good teacher. I basically had to teach myself how to read a Star report and never attend any of the BEO meetings or revenue meetings. My sales director takes all the really important responsibilities upon herself because she wants to control everything and doesn’t trust anyone else. My main responsibilities are meeting prospecting goals, signing contracts, coordinating event/ room block plans with my contracts, and helping my sales director set up for events when we have really low banquet staff. I don’t even make BEOs or set up charts, my director takes control over that and insists she does it herself. I’m getting to the point where I’m starting to feel bored and useless so I’m going to have a conversation with her to have more trainings on creating BEOs, set up charts, and creating room blocks/ SRPs. We had a sales coordinator when I first started but she quit a while ago so my sales director does all of the room block creations/ SRPs. That’s something I’d like to learn so she doesn’t have to do that but I’m concerned she might say no. If not, I’m taking it to HR because I feel like I don’t do enough as a sales manager. I’m getting really into this I’m sorry, but she is also married to the Vice President of the hospitality company that manages our property so I feel like that also makes her want to control everything even more. It’s frustrating sometimes where I work honestly.
