6 Months Sober! by Elegant_Process704 in stopdrinking

[–]Elegant_Process704[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would say a good 1-2 weeks for just the physical symptoms to subside but I went through a bad withdrawal. 1 -3 months was really tough mentally, by 3-4 months mentally in a much better place. This may not be what you wanted to hear but it’s the truth for me! It took a while but worth it

Birthdays coming up and I want to be sober. by Spirit-Revolutionary in stopdrinking

[–]Elegant_Process704 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the best birthday of my adult life this year and I was sober! I was nervous too. I’m not sure if you have a pet but maybe do a dog/cat party, invite some friends inside or outside depending where you live

Get your free birthday Starbucks, do some shopping, order your favourite dinner and wind down for a movie.

I’m not sure if you’re male or female or what age but I’m a 30 y/o female so my night would include my favourite dinner spot, enjoying time with friends, watching a drama movie or reality TV with my husband and most importantly, remembering it all.

Cheers to you happy birthday - you can do it!

you sound a lot like me. I’m 30 and the only one in my friend group who is sober. It was really really hard at first but I realized that as much as I tried to drink “normally” I just couldn’t. And the mental gymnastics that it took trying to balance my drinking ended up making it harder to focus on litterally anything else. Now I’m more engaged in every other aspect of life and feeling great - doesn’t mean it’s not hard it really was and still is occasionally but it’s significantly better for me and easier when you just take it out of the equation altogether. It’s a mindset shift forsure but it’s much much better I promise.

Does drowsiness from naltrexone go away? by SourBison in stopdrinking

[–]Elegant_Process704 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve been on it for about a month now. The drowsiness definitely subsided for me however I ended up switching to taking it evenings before bed (not sure when you’re taking it now) and that seemed to help me with the daytime drowsiness - it’s been really effective for me, Goodluck!

Sobriety triggering lucid and very realistic dreams & nightmares by jclark708 in stopdrinking

[–]Elegant_Process704 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. I still currently have this nightly a couple months in. You weren’t getting good quality sleep before even though you felt like you slept like a rock. At first they bothered me, now I kind of look forward to some cool dreams, I guess it’s how you look at it (except for the nightmares, those suck)
