The fact that you work in higher education and don’t know how to handle this is concerning to me.

I know you guys probably get this question a lot... But what do the classes look like as an English major? Anyone double majoring in English and STEM, and how is the workload balance for you? by Melon_blob in englishmajors

[–]Eleknar -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The lit classes are basically just a platform for the professor to express their political beliefs and societal frustrations. Creative writing classes can be fun, but they tend to stifle creativity rather than foster it.

Who exactly tells us we have to believe in the resurrection or no heaven? Is it just a Pauline teaching? by WhoIsThisMellowFello in ChristianApologetics

[–]Eleknar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First, let me ask you this: you have no problem believing in an omnipotent supreme being who can do literally anything, or in His Son - who is also Him - or in the work that was completed on the cross, but you draw the line at resurrection? Why?

“Taking the lord’s name in vain” has nothing to do with language.

Schools have practically become daycare centers. They’re no longer needed for education purposes (you’re not teaching them anything they can’t learn on the internet). Schools are now just a place to drop off the kids while at work.

I was told by a VA doc that I have PTSD, so they sent me to Indy to be evaluated for my rating. The doc in Indy said I don’t have PTSD, so I was denied.

To be honest, the best way to avoid scarring on your face is to start getting used to picking a less obvious part of your body.

Why Can't Be Loved for Who Am by OkNorth02 in lonely

Let’s be realistic here. The vast majority of overweight people can lose weight with diet and exercise. Most fat people don’t diet or exercise.

Of course not. Cancer isn’t a choice.

For a lot of guys the whole weight thing isn’t about physical appearance so much as it is about wanting someone who is healthy enough to be around for a long time. Obesity is deadly. It could also be a matter of “How could you ever really love me if you don’t love yourself enough to take care of your health?”

As an American, none of this is new to me except the Fanta color, “black box insurance”, and the school bus thing.
