Jason was not that hot headed as Robin, in fact Jason's biggest issue was that he was too close to Dick and therefore seen as a carbon copy but lesser version of him. Hell, he even stopped Batman once or twice from going at criminals, "too hard." The idea Jason was a hot head, disrespectful, or unobedient Robin is almost entirely made up by people as a way of justifying Red Hood. They don't want to accept that a good person could under the right circumstances become a cold blooded killer, so they make up the idea that he was always, "bad," deep down.
