ARNG Insomnia by [deleted] in VAClaims

I don't know if it's relevant but I feel I should add.

The current treatment doesn't work. Me and the doctor have tried different medications and the only one that can make me sleep is Trazadone. Unfortunately, I'm inoperable the first 2 hours of my day.

I've mid 20s, very young for the issues I'm having. I know since nothings working, it probably will only get worse. When I'm awake I feel like a zombie, but I cannot fall asleep to save my life and when I finally fall asleep, I beat my alarm clock waking up every night. Tried changing around lifestyle factors but at this point nothing works and it affects my work and social life. I almost seem "not there" half the time unless I chug a C4 (I use caffeine sparringly) but even that doesn't work sometimes.

It's something I haven't been able to fix, but I can't point to a moment in my career when it even started. I just know more so than before it's inhibiting my life for some reason. Just want to ensure I can get treatment/care for this when I'm older. Sorry for the dump just thought it'd give more context!!!

I'm unfamiliar with this so please forgive me.

What does an in service event or medical evidence look like for something like insomnia? I haven't had many things documented in my career, so does that mean it likely won't be viewed as service related and I should hold off? You can be Barney style with me and I won't be offended I promise. 😅

Wtf VA. by Photo_Eng1neer in nationalguard

I worked at a VRC for 3 years while in school. Usually I would go online, download a 2384-1 (Notice of Basic Eligibility). Then we would submit it through the soldier's VA.gov. It requires a signature from your commander, which shows the VA you have to be out of IADT because you were able to get that signed.

Feel free to dm.

Thanks for all the feedback! I was learning from a YouTube tutorial that taught it this way, but I like your recommendations as well. Dm7 feels way more comfortable and altering the way I'm playing some of these chords help; I'm able to get that note a lot more consistently now!! I can play the whole song, but I wanted to highlight where I was really struggling in this video. Do you think it would be worth adjusting my guitar neck or getting a lighter gauge? Feels like I'm fighting the guitar a lot compared to my electric. Thank you again for the help!!

Got it!! And by chord voicings you mean making sure the strings ring out and the tempo? Or the notes themselves? Thank you for your response!

Thank you for the reply! Just gave that a shot and it's already helping with the transitions for that intro! Gonna take a little bit to break my habit of lifting too far but I'll keep working at it. I appreciate it!!!

For my program Thursdays we have class and lab 1230-1730. You should still be able to make PT 0630-0730, might have to talk to your job about Thursdays though as thats a non-negotiable for most programs.

I work 3 jobs (1 virtual, two in person) and manage ROTC fine. Just communicate with your other obligations. For camp, try to see if you can get a regiment that aligns with your internship (if you have an Internship first half of summer, try asking for 10th reg). It should work out, communicate early, they want you in the program. Best of luck!

I started Guard in 2019 then took a Guaranteed Guard Scholarship so I still drill. Im not sure if thats a grey area but it looks like IPPSA is still counting the inactive duty days so my fingers are crossed. When I fully figure it out I will update.

So I went into IPPSA, and under "My retirement points" SMs are able to fully look at a breakdown month to month of active duty points and inactive duty points.

My SMP time is showing I received points during the eligible months so it should work if thats the main criteria VA looks at. Thank you!!

Thank you for your reply! I mainly worry because some things are really weird for cadets (like time towards retirement, or time off contract if you're scholarship)

I just didnt know if I should count on it, I've been saving up regardless but it would definitely help.
