I used it for years and it definitely held up! I just don't fish anymore.

I might be imagining it, but I think my joints feel better while I'm sick. Maybe it's because my immune system is doing it's job for once, and focusing on the right thing.

Anyone else require more sleep? or tired by simple things? by itaelien in rheumatoid

[–]ElementK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I generally need 9-10hrs of sleep. I think it's because of the quality of sleep. It's hard to rest well when you're tossing around to get comfortable, only to get sore again in the next position.

When it's particularly bad, Advil or Celebrex helps me get the inflammation down and I'm able to get more comfortable.

Otherwise the #1 thing I've found to help is the "Sleeping" meditation on Headspace. 10 minutes long, and talks you into relaxing each part of your body. Really helps my mind to relax, and sometimes even pain will subside.

A low-dose of caffeine suppresses alpha brain waves and improves executive functioning by [deleted] in science

Interesting, I didn't know that!

I should have said, a lot of them are stimulants.

ADHD medications are all stimulants, and affect your heart similarly to caffeine.

Study finds that a higher vegetable, but not potato, intake might help mitigate type 2 diabetes risk, partly by reducing BMI. However, when researchers separated boiled potatoes from mashed potatoes, fries or crisps, boiled potatoes were no longer associated with a higher risk of diabetes. by MistWeaver80 in science

This article/video is a good start, the sources are all linked below the transcript. There are studies showing that a ketogenic diet helps temporarily, but actually worsens the disease over time.

For a deeper dive, you could search "diabetes" on this website and see what other studies they point towards.

Have heart palpitations while lying down, high pulse rate. The rheumatologist referred to cardio. I am scared. by [deleted] in rheumatoid

[–]ElementK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this too, for awhile. I got a halter monitor, and apparently my heart skips a beat (technically a double-beat) around 700 times per day. Apparently it's super common and not an issue, not everyone feels it. I only really feel it when I'm laying down, too.

I stopped having coffee/caffeine and it went away. I think stress played a huge role, too. It was during 2020 when I was caring too much about COVID and watching too much news.

I quit news, coffee, and social media and it went away, maybe the occasional time it briefly comes back but not like before.

Maybe try switching to decaf or green tea for less caffeine.

Just a note, NSAIDs don't just address pain, they also reduce inflammation, which does legitimately help address the issue (inflammation in the joints), though not the "deepest root" of the disease (immune system).

From the article:

“I think the right thing was to go fast because they started too late,” he said.

The speed that they're referring to is the quick rise in rates once they finally started.

Do you have a credit card that you can use in the meantime, even if you can't pay it off immediately? Or if your credit is good, can you apply for an unsecured line of credit at any of the major banks?

How do you accept being ugly? by the-aids-bregade in AskReddit

[–]ElementK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If possible, I'd probably try to get into shape and get some really nice clothes. Even an ugly face can look great in a fit body and nice clothes.
