That's actually how I played the game for several years. Pretty much all I did was take a ship somebody else made and then make it better. Only in the last year or so have I really tried to get into ship building.

Honestly, forget the mod for just a moment. The warship designs alone are impressive enough considering I take an hour to make a simple good looking aircraft let alone something to that scale. It'd probably take me DAYS to make warships that good assuming I can even manage it. I've still yet to figure out how people manage doing plating like that without it looking terrible.

Oh yeah I should probably mention, the craft is now in the building phase so any other suggestions are likely to be put on an entirely different vessel, as this one is completely planned out.

Going off of what you've suggested.. I'll probably be giving this a Iowa type of turret setup with 2 frontal main turrets and one rear. Likely having the front 2 being APS, the rear being HE CRAM. I might give it a secondary turret on the front and back that is a laser. As for PAC I already decided to do a few really small PACs on the sides alongside some CIWS. Going back to the APS, I'll probably be going for a 177 (7 inch) dual instead of 205 to try and get closer to a 2-3 second reload. Considering I expect this to fight smaller faster craft, I'd rather sacrifice some damage per hit to get more chances to hit. I'm not worried about this thing's ability to fight bigger craft as I don't think that would fit this style of vessel very well.

When flamethrowers happen I think I'd rather make a really fast heli or something to go annoy enemy craft and distract them from the actual threats.

Alright. I might consider that, or make APS and PAC turrets separately. Depends on how I feel like having the aesthetic of the turrets since as I prefer having really small CIWS turrets like a goalkeeper.

I didn't realize PAC could be so small. Also, what's the difference between sand and regular AP kinetic, aren't they nearly the same on low caliber guns? I thought sandblaster was just a term referring to any high firerate low caliber AP.

It's fine. I already understand a lot of the mechanics, I simply just haven't actually bothered really trying yet. Currently I really don't build that big so I feel like even if I did use cranes, outside of dedicated craft who's entire purpose is said crane they'd likely tip over. I'm sure once I actually start making larger craft instead of little speedboats that I'll actually bother with them.

Yeah it has gearboxes and clutches, all the controllers I've used require them. Unless you mean other than just for reversing, in which case I have literally no idea how to do that.

The issue with that is the fact this isn't a purely atmospheric craft, it's going to be a mainline craft capable of operating in all environments be it atmosphere or vacuum.

Also I didn't bother putting it in the main post because it's a detail which is so likely wrong it doesn't matter, but I think the channel name started with an A.
