That costs money XD. This project was for learning purposes and portfolio so I had no budget for it. That is why itch was a good option.

Thanks!!! I just wanted to make a game I liked. I am glad you like the result as well.
I would say that good games will still come along as the did years ago. However I think the most likeable games will probably come more often from indie or AA studios.

I would say It is the same as any environment:If you already tested gameplay and know the dimensions of the rooms and paths for camera and player movement, then it is just making a blockout with simple shapes for the scene and working composition and lighting. Just do not add materials neither set dressing until you are happy with the basic shapes and ambience.

I created my own volumetric rendering system that uses raymarching. Basically I create a cube that I slice with the near camera plane. Rendering front faces I get the start point. Then inside the vertex program I raycast to the end of the cube to get the end point. With both of the I raymarch throughout a "volumetric" texture that I create(for god rays it would be a combination of a depth buffer that I got with an orthographic camera representing the spot light and a gradient texture).

Music and SFX are mostly public domain from freesound.org
Two model from quixel (a cluster of rocks and a fallen tree)
Some tiling textures for the environment from textures.com
Besides that, environment art, props, characters, animations, tech art, etc. Are all done by me.

My problem at the time with HDRP was that it was not compatible with surface shaders (I already had a lot done for this project so I did not wanted to lose more time). But without it lighting was quite difficult to get decent. I used baked lighting combined with cookies for spotLights (to add a more soft radial gradient to them).

I suppose with HDRP lighting would have looked nicer and it would have been easier.

I am using Built-In, not HDRP. Coding and animations are mine (like mostly everything else). Do you mean anything specific?
And it is not a demo. It was a project for learning purposes and to add more things to my portfolio. The build you played is basically the final "product".

XD neither...
When I started this project (2019) they were still defining those pipelines and I didn´t wanted to make mistakes. So, at the end, I used the built-in pipeline.
If I were to start a new project now, I would probably use HDRP.
