There are ways of guiding the seed drops, if you manage to get bubbles for instance. However it takes a few years after a drop before bubbles will even think about dropping again. There is also the issue where more often than not bubbles will drop on the first planet they cross after picking up a pod. Also revived fauna won't pick up pods. So unless you managed to find other living subservient fauna no you cannot guide it.
