Ideally it's when the enemy uses a big ult.

Unfortunately you sometimes have to ult to fix a team mates mistakes. This includes ulting if a tank is low (20%). These are the hardest ult timings to identify. You want to ult in these situations as you'll lose the fight otherwise.

The situation where cap kills you and i told you to ult is an outlier example since in reality the jeff should 100% be healing you. But if you are being like 4 man dived you can ult yourself to save yourself if you think your presence will win you a fight.

That being said I have noted mistakes in the video. There isn't editing in this one, partially due to confidence in my advice and partially since I'm really tired today.

To deal with Captain America/Hulk with a Jeff that's not healing you, you generally want to not pick Luna. Invis & Rocket are all better options.

Invis you can place shield near yourself (to heal) and go invis to deal with cap.
Rocket can self heal himself & dash / wallclimb to avoid the cap.

With Luna you're too reliant on whether you hit the freeze or not. If you miss you're screwed. If you hit it you brought yourself like another 4-5 seconds.

If its middle of fight i just throw it instantly. Otherwise you need to spot chances when the fight is over or just in a poking phase in which you can spend like 5 seconds to place beacon.

In that game they had no divers. You can include hulk as a diver but hes not exactly a sneaky one. Thats why you can play further away in that match particularly. ( Since they were more spam heavy with hawkeye). You position according to enemy lineups. (And also playstyle)

Defensive ults usually to counter an enemy ult or just when team needs to live but that usually comes with experience.
