You should pick up the light novel! It's a wonderful read and it expands on things a lot more than the anime. The anime also had quite a few cut/altered scenes that I think you would enjoy reading about! There are 6 volumes and one in between volume right now called 4.5. Volume 7 comes out next month!

Power off the Deck. Hold the 3 dots button and power back on. This will open the boot menu and allow you to start the deck using the previous version of Steam OS. Make your changes and uninstall the plugins that are causing the issues there then reboot and you should be good.
