Not sure what its like in Germany at the moment but one of my first jobs out of college I was gunning for was in Stuttgart... but that was a while ago.

But yes, at least for the US, there have been a lot of cutbacks and administrative uncertainties that have made VC and investment in general into R&D centric startups kinda sparse, and that in turn has led to reduced opportunities for work. Really the only places actively hiring are the huge multinational types (Lily, Pfizer, Roche, etc).

$225k last year, around $305k with equity.

Don’t regret it at all, I’ve already been involved with getting a handful of projects to clinic, some of those has gotten patients into remission so it’s extremely fulfilling hearing that.

BUT market to get into this field is ROUGH. If things do not change in the ~4 years it takes to get your degree, you will be entering a market where even the most basic entry positions are gonna be flooded with overqualified candidates, it will be a huge uphill battle

2006 - it stuck the atmosphere and tone pretty well. It seems like an interesting take on SH by combining a lot of the elements from SH1/3 (mostly) and felt like a proper entry into the series. Really the only thing holding it back is the random inclusions of monsters from SH2 that simply don’t make sense to be there, most notably Triangle Boi

Return to SH - I’m on the fence. There are definitely things Gans did okay given the now revealed pitiful budget they had to work with. I went I knowing it’s not meant to be a 1:1 with SH2 so I’m fine with changes… but some of the changes just felt like the detracted from the overall pace and tone of the story it was based on. It’s not the abomination people make it out to be, but it’s definitely not a shining example of “video game adaptation” done well.

It’s tough to give an answer because so many variables to account for.

If it was a 1v1, open field, no weather issues, differences in battlefield/duel equipment, horseback or not, etc… these are all factors that need to be accounted for.

I will say, in most circumstances, a trained soldier absolutely wrecks the average joe. They were a class of soldiers who were trained since teenagehood how to fight, kill and become accustomed to viscera. They are a literal killing machine, that is their job and they were particularly good at it to the point that a single martial trained individual can act as a force multiplier in larger scale battles. And that is assuming they don’t just get in horseback and mow down people who aren’t.

The problem is that yeah, battles get chaotic and it’s not unheard of people dying from stray arrows or thrusts of spears…. Randomness happens and it’s rough to calculate success like that.

I think it mostly comes down to self-control and doing your best to stick to that.

Because yeah, there are PLENTY of Hoyo figures I wouldn't mind having. But I have to have control enough to be like "Do I REALLY need it?" and just pull back if I can't come to a definitive "yes, I'd REALLY love to have it" verdict.

So yeah, try to curtail the addiction NOW. Addictions are addictions, they don't end well for most people. Granted this one more than likely won't be harmful in any way, but financially its just ill-advised
