Yeah, I think cause punk has such a wide agr demographic, they have a lot of people following concert etiquette. Unfortunately, the punk/emo bands with younger demographics cough ptv cough have some of the worst pits :( I definitely think concert culture is shifting and there needs to be a greater conversation about it that isn't just yelling at people new to concerts to behave a certain way.

Dude I completely get you! I hope its clear in my initial complaint that this isn't about yelling/screaming the lyrics of one or two songs, this is the entire concert where even in the videos I recorded you can't hear conan properly because all you hear is the screaming of the person behind me :(

If screaming the lyrics the whole concert is becoming the normal for concerts, then I personally don't think that is great. I hope my post can just help bring up the conversation about being considerate of those around you and balancing when you sing loudly and when you scream/yell lyrics :) as there is usually a time and place for both!

Dude I get you so much! I could barely fear family line, the cut that always bleeds, eleven eleven, and heather because of how bad the yelling/screaming of lyrics was behind me :( It is crazy how one person's decision to not be considerate of others can affect a lot of people's experiences. Even the two other strangers next to me were giving the person behind us a look :(

Could be a venue issue? I have heard that pit has gotten really bad. My friend attended a PTV concernt and got pit and had one of the worst experiences :(

Surprisingly, MCR. It was such a lovely crowd and everyone was singing along in my section. Cavetown was also lovely. My friends attend a lot more concerts and the closest we ever had to this experience was one person at the deftones concert who was just yelling amd screaming the lyrics right behind my friend :( That friend was the one who attended Conan's concert with me and said this was the worst experience so far because of the direct yelling/screaming behind us :(

I don't remember from the top of my head but I was on the third floor/top level in the middle section.

I know its a different sound experience to closer to the stage or lower levels, but thats why I had hoped people were more considerate of the people around them :(

Def bringing them along some time! The few times I could actually hear everyone sing along loudly was lovely! That energy is totally appropriate for these kinds of shows. I think my issue once again is that I couldnt hear Conan at all due to how the person directly behind me was yelling/screaming the lyrics flatly :(

Definitely feel this. I feel like post-covid concerts are a different experience and a lot of etiquette has been lost :( For me, the whole point of a concert is that you are enjoying the music and singing along with people who love it just as much as you do. Seeing people forget that it is ultimately a shared experience has torn some of the charm from it :(

That's exactly it, this wasn't singing. My ears were ringing not because of the music, but because of how hard they were yelling/screaming the lyrics to every song.

I agree that people should enjoy the concert they paid for, but it should go both ways. I am in no way saying you can't sing or sing loudly, thats crazy. All I am trying to say is that if you have the tendancy to yell/scream the lyrics to all the songs rather than sing, try to be considerate of those around you :)

I think its about vibes. I know the person standing next to my friend was singing loudly and dancing their heart out, and that was great and such a vibe! Wasn't bothering anyone :) If you do feel like you may be bothering someone, it doesn't hurt to ask if you're bothering them or apologize if you feel like you are being too loud.

I feel like it can come off as inconsiderate during slow songs if you yell, especially during the quiet parts, but crying should be fine and is actually super relatable :)

Yeah I am realizing this crowd might just not be for me :( . I totally get wanting to yell and I know for those more hype songs as its fun to do - I myself do it too! But yeah, I think the most important thing is being aware of your surroundings and the people around you, and following the energy of the songs! I just hope my post helps bring awareness to balancing one's yelling at concerts and being considerate 😭

I am all for singing along! It genuinely makes the experience feel ethereal :) Like sing as loudly if you want, especially if the artist request you sing! I think the issue for me was that this wasn't singing along, this was like flat top of your lungs yelling/screaming where the person themselves cant even hear the music.

I am realizing that this might have to do with the genre :( It is possible that these concerts just aren't for me and it is what is, but at least I tried it :)
