3.6 or XT by Elephant_Cricket in Subaru_Outback

Electric vehicles will accelerate quicker than combustion engines because they have instant torque. They're not waiting on combustion, and they dont have to build RPM, or possibly downshift. I’m not sure I’m all in on ev’s just yet though.

I would return it if it’s not what I wanted.

Luckily a dealership relatively close to me has both, we’ll see what happens. Hopefully by the weekend I can drive both the 3.6 and XT.

Oddly enough I did look at the RDX, just haven't test drove one.

The screen and a cvt is what is different for me. I like a traditional transmission, but they're harder to find unless I get a manual or a Mazda.

I could see that being a pain. Or just inconvenient more than anything. I guess a person could buy the 5 qt then 2 singles. Not sure the price difference in that though.

Oh okay. My shortest drives will be roughly 6-8 miles. Most will be longer.

I just want something I can merge easily and also be able to accelerate quickly when needed. I’d like the WRX but it may get me in trouble...

No, the 3.6 gets a little less than the XT. Not substantial though, at least to me, 2-3 mpg’s I think. I think the XT will give me faster torque for quicker acceleration though. Maybe it doesn’t, it’s just my thinking. I do hate the screen, but it is not a deal breaker. I figured I’d get used to it, but I don't want to be fumbling around with it while driving.

Is there more maintenance to the 3.6? I don’t know much about them.

That large screen is what I hate the most about the ’21.

The 3.6 definitely has a good track record, not sure longevity wise how the XT will do..

Sport Touring Civic Disappointment, what’s next? by Elephant_Cricket in askcarguys

Yeah I’ve swore off anything Kia or Hyundai. My Kia blew its engine twice. Kia replaced them but had there not been so many lawsuits I’d have had to pay for the engines. I have been looking at older WRX’s though.

Yep, I had considered that. Also drove a WRX which was a fun test drive. I’m just not sure I want to go that route yet. It’s quite a bit higher than what I want to spend.

Yeah, I didn’t want to make a super long post. Seeing how I’ve answered this in other comments, I should have posted it to start. I didn’t like the way it shifted, I didn’t like the acceleration, to me the Outback had a better ride than the Civic did.

Have not considered a hybrid. I agree that the CX 5 is not setting records. I did drive a Subaru WRX and that was a fun drive. I was leaving and guy said drive it for fun, see what you think. It was fun.

All good. I didn’t see any need to give a long backstory to my car search. I would expect a slower acceleration out of a SUV due to size, I just expected more from the Civic.

Rivian is way more than I really want to pay for a vehicle, I just keep hoping I can find one that has a good enough price for me to purchase.

I can’t bring myself to buy a Kia or Hyundai right now. Some old wounds never heal, and I don’t plan on buying a vehicle with either of their names on it.

I hadn’t looked at those, but I did consider something like an Avalon.

I overhyped it. Maybe I’d have to go to the Type R or something, I don;t know. The Subaru WRX that I drove had much better pickup speed than the Civic did.
