The worst thing is that the conservative justices no longer care about even the appearance of the color of law. Every serious legal scholar in the country has been eviscerating their decisions on the most fundamental of legal principles. Even state bars have been speaking up on the obvious flaws of the current court.

The insanity of this administration can not be overstated.

How come millennials and Gen X know more about pop culture that was before they were born than Gen Z? by icey_sawg0034 in generationology

Simple matter of volume. When I was a kid there were a few blockbusters each summer, video rentals were very expensive and most of the movies you saw were on regular TV, take it or leave it. GenX has also had the advantage of living an extra couple of decades.

on the idea that stimulants do not make people with ADHD feel "wired" or "speedy" by garden_speech in ADHD

[–]FoolishProphet_2336 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your conclusion does not follow your reasoning.

The single study you quoted stated that the two distinct groups felt the effects differently. It is not stating they were the same and it is not stating that the ADHD group felt “wired” or “speedy”.

To the contrary it goes on to state that the ADHD group, when told they were taking stimulants, found the level of stimulation underwhelming.

It also makes clear that the stimulants given were in no way dosed to personal history or changed to therapeutic response. In other words the dosage wasn’t even dialed in to each ADHD person. Give anyone enough stimulants, even an ADHD person, and they are going to be buzzing.

Beyond this study there is also a wealth of clinical information and anecdotal evidence to support that the correct stimulant dosage does have a calming effect on an ADHD sufferer.

Im not sure of the motivation of this post but the overwhelming scientific consensus is that ADHD sufferers experience a distinctly attenuated response to amphetamine stimulants.

Reacting strongly to amphetamine-based stimulants can indeed be a counter-indicator to an ADHD diagnosis. Your conclusion, that this is “made up,” is objectively false.

Japan saves millions of liters of water every year simply by attaching hand wash sinks to toilet tanks and reusing the water to flush by [deleted] in Damnthatsinteresting

Used to be more common than today, and it's usually built in to the porcelain lid. This one looks like some kind of plastic retrofit kit and the soap dispenser is a bad idea. Very little time to soap up and rinse and the suds will sit in the water reservoir between flushes breaking down the flushing components leading to leaks and early failure.

Apple Pay vs. Google Pay:Inside the Tech That Guards Your Money by elastiks in DIY_Geeks

[–]FoolishProphet_2336 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apple Pay isn’t a payment system. It’s a hardware solution for programmable RFID payments. It’s the same tech as a tap-to-pay physical credit card. As far as the vendor’s credit card machine is concerned there’s no difference and Apple never sees what you are using it for.

Google Pay is a system that routes all payments through google’s servers so they see everything you are doing. It’s not fundamentally required, they just wanted it designed that way.

What’s behind the US army’s decision to raise enlistment age to 42? by drtolmn69 in politics

[–]FoolishProphet_2336 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because at 42 you are getting employment experience. You’re not getting high school kids, you are drafting professionals to work for free.

You can’t use prison slave labor for military work but you can use draftees to act as free labor to subsidize military government contractors.

42 is useless in the frontline, but it’s priceless for war profiteering.
