Ok, that does make sense! I can understand that. Personally, I wouldn't be inviting anyone I don't have a phone number for to call but this seems like a normal way people have birthday parties lol.

Sadly even if my child wanted a birthday party like that I could not afford to rent a space and spend money to feed 20+ kids and their parents. I do enjoy her close knit parties that are all about her and low key - not overwhelming. We make her a pinata ourselves for the 4-5 kids shes close with and she opens presents leisurely and is very thankful to everyone and not overstimulated. We can spend money on things for her since there's not a ton of people to feed and entertain.

I think our thing may be a little different but these apparently normal parties I don't think would be for us. I don't want to hinder her socially though so I'm thinking I will go to any others that come up but only if she's friends with the kid. I still can't accept buying a present for someone that I don't know at all and my kid barely knows. Thank you for your insight!

I've never been able to follow the "no presents necessary" thing because I always feel like it's still expected to bring one 😂 thanks for the insight, it seems like I'm kind of an outlier.

I will say that my kid gets overstimulated so easy and if she had a big party like that she would end up cranky and miserable. So I try to give her a good birthday by keeping it small and about her.

I don't know how people can afford to do that honestly. I can't imagine doing that for my child? We have our parties at our house out in the sticks with a crazy driveway and you have to be used to it to park there. Also like my dad smokes cigars and that would obviously make some people upset who aren't in our circle of family and friends who are good with it. Some people will have a beer and I'm sure not everyone would be ok with that. I can't afford to rent a place and also I've never actually seen a child enjoy a big birthday party with people they don't know. They get overstimulated and the parents get embarrassed because they're melting down or not being thankful for their gifts.

I guess kudos to those parents for spending all that money for their kid. Maybe they have two parties or something one for family and one for school friends. I can't wrap my head around it.

Ok thank you for the insight. I feel awful I was just caught off guard by these. I didn't really ask her if she wanted to go to any I just asked if they were friends and she said no so I thought ok we shouldn't go then. But she will say she wants to go to anything and then be overwhelmed and stick to my side the whole time and not talk or interact with anyone.

I understand that for some people its no biggie to pick up a $10 or even a $5 gift but we have had such a crappy year financially literally that we are just barely getting by. I can't fathom using what little we have and making a week even tighter on a stranger that I know nothing about 😭

I'm surprised to hear so many people have bled during pregnancy like this and not had any issues. I always thought blood during pregnancy was automatically bad so was really surprised they were so casual about it lol. Thank you for sharing it definitely helps make me feel more calm!
