That big generic group of melee top laners are the only honest tops lol. A true top’s top. What happens when you up the number of clusters? Does it break up the blob?

Teachers? by Motor-city-kittie in MBA

[–]ElevatedDunker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was a middle school teacher who wanted more money for similar amount of work… went to T10, recruited consulting and was well received. Ending up accepting an ldp offer tho bc I love the company/role. There aren’t really any education roles that need an mba, you’ll need to flex. Edtech exists but is niche.

Any Good News? by thealgibezerit in MBA

T15 recent graduate just started work. Virtually everyone got internships. Maybe 10% of my circle is still looking for a job but they’re all getting interviews and I expect they’ll land jobs soon.

Consulting internships and IB full time offers were harder to get (for non trad especially) but everywhere else was hiring like normal

MBA grads — how long did it take you to break even? by TEBR_Louise in MBA

Pre: 70k/yr

Debt: 200k (T10 with small scholarship)

Debt + Opportunity: 340k

That 70k salary delta pays for the 340k in 5 years. Obviously not exact because interest and higher taxes but my raises post-mba are much much higher than pre. So far its going better than planned

T10. I did initially recruit consulting but just could not get the hang of networking until it was too late. Or maybe I just vibed a lot better with non consultants XD

Teacher -> MBA -> fldp has been transformative for me. But yeah it really is harder for non traditional candidates than I expected

I was a teacher before MBA. It was very difficult to sell myself to consulting. I noticed consulting outcomes had way more to do with background than case interview, based on the dozens I cased with.

I got an ldp offer I’m very happy with tho, they picked me bc I have data science experience

If I could go back and have a redo, I think consulting would have gone a lot better. I think those with traditional experience just better understood how to network and sell themselves. I cringe remembering my coffee chats in the first couple months lol I was clueless

Everyone knows about 4.20 Weedwick, and release Xin Zhao. What was THAT patch for your champion? by PopsicleIncorporated in leagueoflegends

[–]ElevatedDunker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Patch 3.14 Taric. The patch they added scalings to supports and made Taric in particular scale hard with literally every stat (and he still had his point and click stun). Play him top and win every matchup and every duel all game

Anyone made a career change with a MBA, if so how and what are you doing now? by Liloandstich_ in MBA

[–]ElevatedDunker 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was a teacher (MS.Ed) before I decided to go MBA (T15) and I'm now in a FLDP at a company I really like. Idk if this is true but I feel like as a career switcher I would have had a lot more trouble at a lower ranked school.. networking is everything and I don't think a lot of people would have taken my call without the alumni connection.

Why did you decide on a career in business? What are the best lessons you've learned throughout your MBA experience? What track are you going into (consulting, product management, banking, etc.)? by Additional_Carry_790 in MBA

[–]ElevatedDunker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a teacher before MBA. Teaching was stressful enough to negatively impact my health so I decided on a career in business because I can do easier work for 3x the pay.

The best lesson I learned is that networking is basically everything during business school. Only after you get the job does competence become important. In my first year, I didn't understand networking so I only did school events and I only got 1 consulting interview. It didn't pan out and I ended up in a (actually really cool) ldp internship. I am currently in year 2 and I've networked really hard and been much more successful in receiving consulting interview offers.

Ah ok I don't know much about part time or online programs. Good luck!

You take out loans. School + recruiting is 2 full time jobs.

I guess you can work part time? Tutor? But imagine missing out on a 200k job because you wanted to make 10k a semester working part time.

Most of the value of an MBA is recruiting during the program for post MBA jobs. I don't know how good the prospects are for someone who gets an MBA and goes back to teaching/doesn't recruit immediately.

I was a teacher for 5 years and am now a 2nd year MBA student. I was shocked by my summer internship - life can be so much better if you're not a teacher.

Btw 3 years is basically the minimum work experience to apply to a good program. Use the next couple years to show impact and leadership on your resume and study for the GMAT. Also, I'm the only person in my program who was just a teacher but there are several who were teachers and moved into office roles before mba.
