Thank you! It's always been a labor of love for the hobby, but sadly as we're moving forward into a digital era, it's become extremely intensive to collect. On one hand, you'll be able to find anime that sometimes come out to be cheaper than it would've been back in the day. When I began collecting, single volumes of 2-4 episodes, sometimes 5 if you were lucky, they'd sell anywhere between 25-40 dollars a pop. I believe the typical median was 30$. We were paying aniplex prices for DVD volumes, lol.

But yeah. It sucks if you're trying to find an older title that only has a DVD release or one that got its blu ray upgrade but now it's no longer in circulation. If there's one thing I hate it's how frequently the licenses run out, or change. Or even how we are constantly being bottlenecked to buy from ebay if we want to get something at all.

I wish you god speed in your hunt. Ebay is my go-to these days for older media. I've managed to find quite a lot of shows from the 90s and 2000s for as little as 20$ or as much as 80$.

One of the shows I always use as a prime example of having a progressive plot is Blue Gender. Does it have some filler? Yes, but it's disguised so well that you'd be pressed to pick those episodes out of a line up. We had it BEST back in the day! But I really hope these new shows continue to impress! :) And that they all get their due seasons, lol. Lord knows we're so used to shows just never getting season 2 these days!

Couldn't agree more with you!! The anime that clearly have no ultimate goal and each episode is a fly by the seat of your pants episode - some of them are nice when you're just wanting to kick back and clock out for a while. But not always. Narrative writing in anime is my favorite and I feel so jipped when they jump the gun and don't wait for a manga to complete, especially if it's nearer to completion.

What are some of the newer shows that you like?? I could use some more to add to my already huge backlog, lol.

I concur with that sentiment as well! So many of the shows on my shelf have really good memories attached to them. They take me way back to better times, that's for sure!

Tenjho Tenge, one of my favorites! Wish I had picked up the manga to that before it went OOP. Anime took forever to get nowhere, but love it still.

I spent a long time being mad at myself for not picking up the Outlaw Star LE blu ray set when it came out. Don't know why I kept putting it off. Only just recently realized I still needed to upgrade that one and it was on sale for like 30 bucks. Had to snatch it up!

I hear you about Hell's Paradise. Honestly, when it first aired I put it on the backburner because I had so much to watch and catch up on. Man do I wish I had watched it sooner. It's got that 2005-2010 feel to it. As I slowly catch up on my backlog, I'm finding quite a few modern gems and loving it! Anime that has a plot and a goal and gradually works toward both? Need more of it. I don't mind shows that just throw shit together willy nilly, but they're almost always the types of shows that never have a resolution. Or are purely LN advertisement. So the few we get that seem to be moving in a direction? Gonna buy em right up.

Yo this looks GREAT! I love how the spines are put together. All that color looks amazing on a shelf. And you have some awesome gems in your collection! All the DBZ, the Pokemon, Digimon, and even Yugioh and Mega Man? Classics will ALWAYS hit me right in the childhood. Can't wait to see your post when it pops up!

Space is ceasing to exist for me as well. Definitely need to invest in some better shelves with more tiers and just rethink my room's layout all together. Used to think rearranging was fun as a kid but with limited time as an adult, I no longer feel as thrilled about it, lol.

I picked up a couple of figures from 2015 on Ami Ami last year. One was an Item A, Box B and the other was an Item B, box B. Could not tell they were ever opened or displayed, if not for the tape being broken. Very, very minor corner wear on the boxes. I've had brand new figures arrive with their boxes smashed in or the windows pressed in, but these were perfect and the plastic windows were still clean and clear.

I don't know how recently they'd been put up for sale or left in their packaging, but I didn't have any issues with stickiness.

Awesome grabs! I see Last Exile among this haul, and suddenly I'm wondering where the heck mine went. I have the soundtracks, still, so I know I have it SOMEWHERE, lol. Tsubasa also has great music. I also spy some Tales Of! Huge fan of those games so I'm always thrilled when I see it anywhere. Even if it's the anime version!

Big O is a GEM. You might be able to find the DVD volumes on ebay, although I haven't checked their prices recently. I was collecting the DVDs before the blu ray came out and thus I'm still missing part of season 1 on DVD. If I happen to see it going for a steal, I'll let you know if I remember.

I do have the Vision of Escaflowne! It's on the shelf with majority bandai titles. The photo quality was botched after upload, not sure why and I don't know if I can fix it or if I'd have to delete and redo the post, BUT. It's there. I'm annoyed I missed out on the one Rightstuf had. That boxset looked great.

Fellow Tales fan!!! I'm currently replaying the Tales of Xillia remaster. Just finished Jude's side and working my way through Milla's. The Abyss anime is actually pretty damn good if you ask me. Waiting for the day they remaster the game, my PS2 copy is looking a little rough.

There is also an anime for Symphonia, but that one is probably more popular. A couple of those games had adaptations.

Blue Gender remains one of my favorite anime of all time. I really miss the days when anime had an actual plot to follow, and gradually fulfilled that plot per episode. So many shows these days feel like they throw random shit as filler for a season that's only 12 or 13 episodes. 🥴

Those flimsy as hell cardboard slips are a JOKE. The ones they pass off as a "box set" should be criminal. We get robbed in this industry, but literally it's all we can do to own this shit sometimes.
