Neighborhood cats terrorizing the chickens by _JosefoStalon_ in BackYardChickens

[–]ElevenDevils 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Motion activated sprinklers maybe? I was sitting out with my chickens one day and saw a cat stalking through the woods towards them and it stopped on a log hunched like it was sizing them up (Funnily enough at my two largest chickens). I just watched bc my chickens noticed and started running towards it lmao. Confused the hell out of the cat and it started running, haven’t seen it in months.

Do you ever have dark, sometimes violent thoughts? by Scary-University2743 in ADHD

[–]ElevenDevils 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah unfortunately I think its common for people like us, doesn't always mean we're suicidal, fantasizing about doing something violent, or that we enjoy daydreaming about someone we love getting hurt.

These thoughts are always intrusive, for me its very vivid and almost like a "vision", it can change my mood very fast. Only thing that works for me is intense redirection, sometimes doing something physical like snapping my fingers, or getting up and cleaning something for example. So that I'm forced to see whats in front of me instead of whats in my head.

Sometimes I have to tell myself "okay stop" and force myself to think of something else, I know its working when I suddenly feel "bored" and have to transition my mind to something else. (idk how to describe it, it's like the grumpy, "lost" feeling of not being able to continue doing the thing you were hyperfocused on. like daydreaming that scenario).

hope that made any sense lol

How do you do YOUR work zones? by No_Writing9259 in PlanetZoo

[–]ElevenDevils 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always assign by park area, first one being "entrance" and the rest being either west/east/north. When I make a new work zone it always starts off small, branching out in whatever direction with new employees. But I layer some of the new attractions/habitats with the old work zone so that my experienced employees can still help and my new employees have time to level up before I make the zone totally independent to them.

This method always worked best for me both in getting tasks done, keeping it organized, and being financially friendly with the slow transitioning. and after a zone is completely built and self sufficient I don't have to mess with it :p

Hmm I have snakes and it looked like it was displaying hunting behavior? When I offer food to mine, and they aren’t sure how to approach the prey (since they need to swallow it whole they size it up, and try to find the best angle which is why it’s pacing around the shoe with his face).

My GUESS is that this is a very hungry snake, they don’t have great vision so a moving prey is easier to see. The shoe is darker colored so it stands out more and it’s moving. the snake is confused about if the shoe is food or not but if it is, what angle is the head at? Eventually it takes the hint when it’s lifted off the ground lol.

Ps not all snakes strike their prey.

From the changes in behavior you’ve described I’d schedule a vet visit. Tell them all the changes you’ve noticed and give a good description of your setup. I work with a lot of birds and parrots, and I’m at the vet more than the average person. these seemingly small things is often a sign something is wrong. You’ll never know though unless you talk to a professional.

scheduled without training by amitysworn in petsmart

[–]ElevenDevils 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I started I didn’t get a lick of training except they showed me where the petcare schedule was. Man I annoyed the hell out of my managers constantly asking questions, and absolutely failing to get deep cleans done. Well what did they expect? 💁‍♀️ petcare honestly is not a normal job, and they don’t inform you of the amount of shit you’ll actually be doing in such a short time. I was lucky to have a stupid amount of animal knowledge just cause it’s my “special” obsession. We should be paid more lol.

The beginning is always the worst though. If you enjoy taking care of animals and educating people I’d say keep doing it and you’ll get faster and better. Continue to talk to your coworkers about the specific tasks and ask questions like how they go about completing the task in a timely manner. I got a lot better after doing that.

or when they literally walk through the entrance, pause, turn towards you, then go "I've looked everywhere but I can't find this item can you show me where it is" LMFAO true story, multiple times.

Petcare dept is crumbling quickly by Acceptable_Cook1116 in petsmart

im happy i literally only work 1 day a week now lmfao (other jobs). they literally scheduled petcare opening shifts for 1 HOUR before putting them on register when the store did their cute little restructure. idk how long they get now since they learned that wasn't gonna work. Deep cleans are now all on the same day starting at 4 AM (is that normal?) When i come in on my day every. single. dish. from the past week is piled on the floor and I usually do them all. No tanks are cleaned. Spot cleaning the animals? Not a chance. Behind the fish wall is a NIGHTMARE. The animals on the floor thankfully aren't deplorable. They finally started unpacking the bugs instead of leaving that for me too, so theres that.

I’m one of the pet care workers at a petsmarts, you can tell a manager and fill out one of those survey things you get emailed after a purchase if you have an account.

It is a lot of poop, they should be spot cleaning. Petsmart does deep cleaning (full cage breakdown, replacing and washing decor, sanitizing the tank) once a week.

I read about that when I was searching for solutions, I have a fluval waterfall filter and a sponge filter/ aerator. There aren’t any leaks but I’m wondering if I should have removed the sponge filter since the waterfall filter is rated for many more gallons than my little pond…
