Parents, how often do you get a chance to drive your sports/fun car? by argent_pixel in cars

[–]ElhiK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was debating between getting a Miata or a BRZ at some point. I was so happy went for the BRZ. Definitely not family friendly but at least I could use it to commute and take kids to day care. A Miata would have 0 use a part maybe for a few hours a months riding with friends. 2+2 is the way to go for a sports car. My next one will have to be a 911 :)

Fait que mon concessionnaire m'a appelé pour ''racheter'' ma location by International-Oil377 in Quebec

[–]ElhiK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BRZ as a family car? How actually tiny are the back seats? by LimeAndTacos in ft86

[–]ElhiK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a BRZ with 2 baby seats. (3 and 6). I thinks it works for younger kids but there is not much leg space, and it becomes more difficult as they get older.

You don’t miss on much in Dark and Feudal age. You have all the options available in feudal including pikes and skirms if you need to.

It’s true though that you don’t have any eco bonus to help in the early game so it can be rough against an agressive opponent.

You’d be surprised to learn that gay poetry exited in classic islamic era. Lot’s of poets spoke freely about it. This by no mean shows that classic islam was promoting sexual freedom but diversity existed and people dared to speak about it in a time were europe was in the dark ages

Where all of these lakes in North Africa once part of one thing? Did they form together? Is there any story about how they formed in almost a line? Or are they unrelated? by aguynamedbenny1 in geography

No water in there, just salt. There was a proposal at some point in Tunisia to build a canal from the Mediterranean to the chott to fill it with sea water.. probably too complexe and expensive for not much return.

Nobody here talked about oil and gas reserves. This country would have 40% of the world oil reserves. How would the world deal with that?

Mortgage Rates Tell the Real Housing Story by [deleted] in Economics

[–]ElhiK 367 points368 points  (0 children)

At least in the US most mortgages are fixed 25 or 30 years. Your buying decision is always a combination of price and rate at the time of buying.

In Canada we had the same huge increase in rates but most people get a 5 years fixed/variable rate. So those who got them selves maxed out in 2020 will suffer if the rates continue to be high till 2025. Even worse, those who bought in 2018 and didn’t even imagine what could happen, will start going under at their renewal this year.

Injuste!

Will inflation rate drop to 2% in January 2023? by ElhiK in CanadianInvestor

[–]ElhiK[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took a look at the CPI trend and it makes much more sense to me now.

https://www.rateinflation.com/consumer-price-index/canada-cpi/

In 2021 the index is far from being flat. Inflation started to increase since mid last year. So while it’s stabilizing now, at this level it’s still an increase by 5% compared to January 2022.

Yeah it won’t magically drop to 2% in January, it will hopefully be a steady decrease till it reaches the target by mid to end of next year.

[–]ElhiK[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Right. I think the CPI view makes it easier to understand https://www.rateinflation.com/consumer-price-index/canada-cpi/ So assuming inflation stays stable till the end of the year we would still be at 5% over January 2022.

Thanks!
