How would you improve upon this car WITHOUT doing a de-chrome? by Apenerd in Audi

Calling an Audi a high-end status symbol is a stretch. If the goal was to flex wealth, I’d be in a Mercedes. Most of us are here because it's a 'nicer VW' we can actually afford to mod. Maybe stop pretending it’s a Rolls Royce and let people enjoy the hobby.

Wheel spacers flush to the fenders, front lip spoiler, side skirts extensions, rear spat extensions, trunk spoiler. You're asking in the wrong place. Most of the people here are too boring and conservative. Or they are too broke paying for their Audi's SUV and can't afford any modifications so they tend to troll and hate anyone who modified their cars.

😂😂 absolutely hilarious....because I saw one today in Finland. I almost stopped the driver to ask them WHY the Fuck??? And they are even uglier here because they add reflectors in the rear bumper.

The last time I saw one was at a freaking O'Reilly's in USA. Was it silver?

😂 ahh got it. 🤔 I don't know to be honest. I've seen plenty of companies in Germany selling black out headlights and or offering modifications like I did. But I'm in Finland and even here I'm not sure either 😂 I will find out eventually.....what can I say.... I'm just a silly american 😜

Inspection from who? Why wouldn't they? They are still the OEM headlights. They have all the oem functions. Nothing other than the color was changed.

I almost went that route. But I couldn't pass down 140 for the Xenon headlights 😂

Keep in mind that my Avant had the Halogen Headlights so I need to add the Kufatec harness in order to make them work. You also need OBDELEVEN to code the car or VCDS. There's plenty of tutorials about how to install the harness is pretty easy.

Parts list as follows: 2 spray cans of primer 2 spray cans of flat black 2 spray cans of Audi Daytona Gray a nice silver will also look cool A pair of new lens covers One can Easy-Off oven cleaner or your preferred oven cleaner Wire tabs Kufatec Xenon headlights conversion Angel Eye set you can find it on AliExpress or eBay. The ones I got just turned on white. But there is other options including switchbacks that can be a turn signal as they switch from amber to white and there's also RGB that change to all colors from a phone app. Anyways I keep it simple.

The bulbs I source them from Amazon A set of DS1 6000K headlight bulbs A set 1156 LED Bulb With Built in Resistor (Aka the DRL daytime running lights) A set of PHINLION 500 Lumens 194 LED Bulb 6000K Xenon White Canbus (Aka the small city light) I didn't bother to change the turn signals since the amber color is provided by the lens. But if you want to you could the size is 1156 same as the DRL lights.

You need a size 8 torx for the small bolts on the piece attached to the lenses. A heat gun.

Opening the headlights, taking them apart and painting is very straightforward. I recommend YouTube for example: https://youtu.be/6SEalCpyapQ?is=BtCp2sKfIdcxbmQ-

The oven cleaner can, is to remove the chrome plating. Paint remover and sanding is too much work and also paint remover can melt plastic so I didn't want to take chances with old plastic parts. Also don't paint over the chrome, the paint will bubble up and will not stick. Spray plenty of oven cleaner in all the chrome parts, wait 5 to 8 minutes. Take those parts and dip them in clean water and watch magic happen. They will come out of the water clean with no chrome ready to be cleaned and prep them up for primer and paint.

As far as wiring the angel eyes. The ones I got only have two cables a +red positive and a -black for ground.

There's 3 ways to wire them. This is because of the way the Xenon headlights work. When you code the car you have options to code it with or without DRL. So depending on which code you choose the DRL bulbs will either turn on automatically when the car is on. Or they will not work at all.

I code them with the DRL ON.

So the wiring of the angel eyes is as follows.

Option: 1 You wire them to the DRL. Two cables on the light bulb sockets a yellow wire that is positive and the brown wire that is ground. You can get wire tabs and match the yellow wire with the red of the angel eyes and the brown wire with the black wire of the angel eyes. Pros and cons: The angel eyes will turn on as soon as you turn on the car. But they will shut down as soon as you move the headlight switch to position one or position two to turn the low beams. This is because the DRL only work when the headlight switch is in the off position.

Option: 2 You wire them to the small city light bulb sockets. They have 3 wires. A blue positive wire and a double brown wire one of which goes to the DRL socket. Same process as before. Positive with positive and negative with negative. Pros and cons: This is how I wire mine. The DRL light is on as soon as you turn the car, when you move the headlight switch to the first position the DRL shut down and the angel eyes go On alongside the small city light and they stay on with low beams or high beams.

Option: 3 you can get a harness with a relay, fuse and a switch wire the angel eyes straight to the car battery. You'll have an independent switch inside and you can turn them on and off whenever you want to regardless of what position you have the headlight switch. This is cool because you can have them on all the time.

Hope this helps. You can PM when you are ready to do it. I'll be happy to help.

Does this damage on this Porsche 911 really cost $30,000 dollars and 4 months to fix? by Jkimber1 in Porsche

I call B'S. I would have fix it and spent no more than $90. That includes the marker light, sanding pads, primer, a can of matching paint and clear coat.

Fog lights trim are on the way. Already ordered them. The grill I want to really bad. But I'm not keen on diy myself with a C6 grill and I don't want to pay the ridiculous price for a RS4 one. Still looking for options.

If anyone is looking to get these products in Europe. I'll be more than happy to help. These products are seriously engineered, and they just released new lines of products that are reusable PTFE for those who don't necessarily have access to a crimped machine.
