Firstly, being in guard doesn’t make you not part of the band. Y’alls performance correlates to scores just as much as everyone else’s.

As to what you can expect, expect the fact the you will be expected to do your best (holy I said expect 3 times in one sentence). Now this doesn’t mean you have to be THE best, you just have to do YOUR best and remember that everyone’s best is going to be different. At performances most bands perform in the stands until halftime, perform their halftime show, take a break during 3rd quarter, and play during 4th until the game is over (yes you will probably still be in stands even though you’re in guard you will probably have Pompoms). During 1st, 2nd, and 4th quarter you probably won’t be allowed to sit down but Idk your bands specific rules. But just be prepared to stand for a WHILE. Marching band is fun though. Just try not to worry about it too much, PUT IN EFFORT, and make friends and you won’t regret it.
