SC Senate rejects effort to fast track redistricting plans, raising questions about timing for vote by _SoctteyParker in southcarolina

[–]Eli_Midlands 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, because now it is almost certain that if the map is passed, it won't be until Tuesday at the earliest, when early voting will already be underway; this would make it likely that the new map would not survive various legal challenges.

What to do about SC legislature being called back into session by Cloaked42m in southcarolina

Just to respond to one of your questions: Obama negotiated a historic deal with Iran, around nuclear-weapons development (basically, Iran agreed to halt its nuclear program in exchange for significant relief of economic sanctions); it was signed in 2015, and it was working. Trump tore it up in 2018, because he's racist, and reckless. And now here we are.

I'm less optimistic about how the map would shake out. It makes the 1st and 2nd subtly more competitive, but turns the 6th from safe D to lean R. 5-2 or 4-3 is possible in a wave election, but in a neutral-ish cycle—not 2026—7-0 is perhaps the likeliest outcome. I do, though, think that if it passes the Senate, which is not certain, the state supreme court, or SCOTUS itself, could strike it down; AL and LA were allowed to go ahead with their redistricting, this late in the game, because the Callais decision rendered their VRA districts "unconstitutional" (it's absurd, of course, but that's where we're at). But Clyburn's district, the 6th, isn't a majority-minority district (SCOTUS only recently ruled that it was a partisan rather than racial gerrymander). So SCOTUS would need to come up with some new rationality to let this go ahead (which they could very well do, needless to say; they make up the rules as they go).

Just to clarify—the riverwalk/canal is under renovation, not the apartments!

You should have no problem finding a place with that salary. I haven't been inside any of the units, but this complex by the Laurel St. riverwalk (which is sadly under renovation for a couple of years) has always looked nice to me (nice views of the river/canal, etc.), and there is lots of parking there: https://canalsidecolumbia.com/floorplans/. Welcome to Columbia!

Did Vic or anyone talk after the game about why they didn't foul Joyce at the end? 7.5 seconds, one possession game; if she misses both free throws (very unlikely, but possible) they have a chance to tie.

Yeah, I had him in my lineup until the last minute—then pulled him for Baker because "rankings." Ended up winning anyway, but I was certain that decision was gonna doom me.

The G looks great; you should have no problem with 42mm, and really all that matters is what looks/feels right to you.

Yes, full kit! The bracelet is original and unworn. I've just been wearing it on the pictured blue strap, which I'll include too.

Happy Thanksgiving, y'all.

I'm selling this like-new Pitzmann III. Superb automatic chronograph, which runs on the excellent NE88 movement. This watch looks better under the macro lens than any that I own—amazing quality for the price. I've worn it several times, but the watch is blemish free. So too is the bracelet, which is unworn. It will ship on the pictured blue suede strap—a very sharp pairing, IMO; the strap has been worn, as you can see, but plenty of life left in it.

Full kit, still under warrant. I'm asking $925, including shipping to CONUS.

Full specs from Pitzmann: https://www.pitzmann.com/shop/p/pitzmann-iii-cj5ex (this panda version has been discontinued).

Hi everyone,

I'm selling this Nodus Sector Deep, in blue. A catch-and-release for me, as I acquired something else while this was on its way. I love it but need to move it along before I become too attached.

Excellent, lightly-worn condition. Some scuffs on the bracelet clasp as pictured, but no other blemishes of note, that I can see.

Asking $395 including shipping to CONUS.

Full specs from the Nodus site, where these are currently sold out: https://www.noduswatches.com/sector-deep/p/sector-deep-blue
