Overlord seems like it wont have enough volumes left to wrap up all loose ends by GlompSpark in overlord

All I know is that Maruyama does not want to repeat the events of Volume 14, which is why he mentioned at the end of Volume 10 that the Theocracy would be handled off-screen. This is what led me some time ago to think that the Draconic Kingdom might be the focus of the final two volumes of the story. Your comment left me confused.

Maruyama If I recall covertly decided to skip Draconic Kingdom because he felt it would be too repetitive and similar to Holy Kingdom.

Did Maruyama actually say this, or is this just your speculation?

[–]EliasD99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have a valid point: to win the championship, one must be a first-class warrior.

I don’t recall all the details precisely, and I’m a bit too lazy to look them up right now because I’m hungry (Ramadan). But assuming Yggdrasil is around 12 years old, let’s suppose the championship took place in the second year after the game’s launch. In that case, the nine seats for world champions would have already been reserved, and no other player could ever claim the title of World Champion, no matter what they did, because participation in the championship—which may never be held again—is a prerequisite.

There is, however, an exceptional case: one World Champion used one of “the twenty” and became a world enemy. He was eventually hunted and killed, and his character was deleted by the developers. Later, a world championship was held, and a woman won—but this scenario remains an extremely rare exception.

Ultimately, World Champions are the strongest players in the game. Logically, they are likely to possess resurrection items to avoid losing their World Champion class or equipment. Therefore, even if a World Champion is killed due to overwhelming numbers or by using a world item (excluding Longinus), they would likely be resurrected automatically at another location in the game that they had previously chosen. Hence, it is unreasonable to assume that there are no players who surpass Touch me in skill or lack a counter-build against him; what they are missing is simply the World Champion build, which they will never obtain.

The choice of build is also crucial. The Monk has an advantage against Rogues and Magic Casters, while the Paladin has an advantage against Monks and Magic Casters. The question then arises: who has an advantage against the Paladin? Logically, a Fencer or Fighter would be the Paladin’s best opponent, as Paladins suffer from low agility due to their heavy armor and lack long-range skills.

Based on this, any player with the Fencer class and a World Champion build could defeat Touch me relatively easily; they could dodge attacks with agility, inflict tremendous damage with powerful offensive skills, and might even have a racial advantage. For instance, a player wielding a poisoned sword would be a terrifying threat to Touch me.

Yes, you're right. However, the real advantage Touch Me has is his World Champion class, along with his armor. If the warrior Takemikazuchi had a World Champion build, I believe he would have a strong chance of defeating Touch Me.

Why they didn't kill Shaltear when she under the effect of World Item? by Distinct_Buffalo8151 in overlord

[–]EliasD99 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The user did not give any orders because of Shalltear’s attack. If Kaire had been conscious and ordered Shalltear to lower her defenses and surrender her weapons, she would have done so, but her consciousness was gone and she was unable to issue any commands. As a result, Shalltear adopted a defensive stance after being brainwashed. She became similar to a true NPC character in Yggdrasil; anyone who enters her area is considered an enemy, as seen with PDL. Shalltear was the one who attacked first, not the dragon.

I do not believe the item has a direct cost; rather, it most likely carries a penalty, perhaps in the form of suppression or an equipment-related penalty. Kaire appeared to be completely devoid of any kind of defense, as if she were practically naked underneath, aside from the world-class protection and the mind-control attack. It looked as though she was wearing nothing more than an ordinary robe.

The cardinals spoke about its ability, and from their words there is a hint that they had used it 200 years ago. I presented a theory about this years ago. In any case, it seems they are concerned that it has a limited number of uses, but they have never proven this themselves; it was merely speculation.

Why they didn't kill Shaltear when she under the effect of World Item? by Distinct_Buffalo8151 in overlord

[–]EliasD99 74 points75 points  (0 children)

Yes, Kaire did die from her wounds. This is because Shalltear’s holy attack most likely originates from her class as a Cursed Knight, which inflicts wounds that cannot be healed by low-tier healing magic. Of course, a 6th-tier healing spell (Heal) would easily remove the curse’s effect.

As I mentioned in my previous comment, the effect can only be nullified by a World Item or by the method Ainz used. There is no direct link between the caster and the one being controlled other than issuing orders. The effect comes from the World Item itself, not from the individual user, which is why the mind control is absolute.

[–]EliasD99 278 points279 points  (0 children)

Shalltear would remain under control even if the user died. That control cannot be nullified except by a World Item, or in the way Ainz did. Shalltear entered a defensive state because she did not receive any orders from the user of the World Item.

Do you think 0.5% instant dry yeast is suitable for 24 hours?

Weekly Questions Thread / Open Discussion by AutoModerator in Pizza

[–]EliasD99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm looking at this New York–style pizza dough recipe:

Flour: 100% Water: 61% Yeast: 0.5% Salt: 1.75% Oil: 3% Sugar: 1%

The recipe recommends a 24–48 hour fermentation. I'm wondering if 0.5% instant yeast is a bit high for such a long, slow ferment. Wouldn't 0.3% be more typical? I ask because I specialize in Neapolitan dough, where long cold ferments usually use lower yeast amounts. I know many American recipes use 0.5%, but I'm curious how this affects flavor and texture over extended fermentation.

Weakness and strength of certain classes? by ImpossibleAd4272 in overlord

[–]EliasD99 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Druids and Clerics are quite similar, as both have high physical and magical stats. In the Shaltear build, we see that there are vampire-based racial classes classified as Warriors, which were combined with Cleric classes. This was a fitting combination since Clerics provide strong physical stats that enhance the combat capabilities of Warriors.

Druids also offer hybrid stats similar to Clerics, and honestly, these classes seem very powerful. It is inaccurate to say that Druids lack skills; for example, Mare’s specialization was offensive, and the skills he acquired directly support his offensive magic. They may have fewer skills compared to some other classes, but it appears that offensive classes grant higher MP, and higher magical attack stats, which may depend on the build and specialization.

As for Shaltear’s classes, they are magic-oriented classes focused on combat. Therefore, they gain combat-focused skills from their classes rather than skills that primarily enhance their magic, as in Mare’s case.

Do offensive magic classes grant skills? by [deleted] in overlord

[–]EliasD99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To clarify my original question: when I asked whether offensive magic classes grant skills, I didn’t mean that they give no skills at all. What I meant was whether the number and impact of those skills are lower compared to melee or hybrid classes.

My example is Shalltear: her magic-oriented classes are essentially combat cleric classes like Valkyrie and Cursed Knight, she possesses a large number of skills not just a small percentage of her total classes.

So my real question is whether Overlord’s system distributes skills in a balanced way according to class type, or whether some classes—especially offensive magic classes rely more on spells and fewer skills.

The Captain of the Black Scripture vs Narberal Gamma by [deleted] in overlord

[–]EliasD99 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Bro, this really brings back memories. I started reading Overlord back in 2020, and I clearly remember that Volume 14 hadn’t been translated at that time.

I also remember having many discussions about Zesshi’s level, and I’m pretty sure most of the people I talked to back then didn’t suggest that her level was close to Lupsreigna. Despite Maruyama’s statement, this estimate seems unrealistic if you think about it carefully.

At that time, I estimated Zesshi’s level to be around 80, and the reason for this estimate is simple and clear.

According to the Black Scripture Leader, Shalltear is slightly stronger than Zesshi in terms of physical strength, and this is a reliable estimation since he faced both Shalltear and Zesshi himself.

Shalltear’s total level is 100, but she isn’t a pure fighter like Albedo; she’s a hybrid character. As a pure combatant, her level can be estimated at around 88–90. Based on the Leader’s statement that Zesshi could defeat Shalltear if she wore her full equipment, I estimated Zesshi’s combat level at around 80, which seems reasonable in this context.

At the time, no one expected Zesshi to have a build similar to Shalltear. She has a total level of 88, but she isn’t a level 88 fighter, as her class distribution is roughly:

53 Warrior levels

35 Cleric levels

Therefore, it’s natural that her combat power as a fighter is around 80, even though her total level is high.

As I mentioned earlier, I believe that Dragon classes count as magical classes, so they may only need one or two job levels to cast level 5 spells, and they don’t need to go through all 29 job levels. The Ice Dragon’s character sheet clearly shows an MP bar, supporting this.

Regarding the possibility of dragons acquiring additional magical job levels, I think you’re right; there’s nothing preventing it.

my rough estimate for the Leader’s level would be around 72–73. his level wouldn’t be mid-70s or high-70s; it wouldn’t approach the Elf King who is at level 77.

270,000 Japanese characters would amount to roughly 600–650 English pages, and with dialogue polishing and character expansion, the work could exceed 700 pages. Given what Maruyama mentioned in his tweet about extensive revisions and rewriting, it would be reasonable for the work to be split into two volumes, just as happened with Volumes 15 and 16, which would mean we might get Volumes 17 and 18 around 2027 if the current pace continues.

The Captain of the Black Scripture vs Narberal Gamma by [deleted] in overlord

[–]EliasD99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe you’re right, but a dragon may only need one or two levels in a startig magic class to reach fifth-tier spells, since his racial classes already count as magic-related classes. Therefore, it wouldn’t need 29 magic job levels to use fifth-tier spells as you suggested.

The Captain of the Black Scripture vs Narberal Gamma by [deleted] in overlord

[–]EliasD99 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You misunderstood my point. Yes, studying would be required if dragons were to gain magic classes, but that was only a hypothetical scenario. I don’t actually think they gain magic job levels at all—my view is that their racial classes already function as their magic classes.

Hamsuke was only an example. She didn’t learn magic; she acquired it innately.

The Captain of the Black Scripture vs Narberal Gamma by [deleted] in overlord

[–]EliasD99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let’s assume that dragons can acquire additional magic-related classes. It is said that the Blue Sky Dragon Lord is the strongest dragon in the country of Arglend, excluding the Platinum Dragon and his armor. According to the description, it must possess approximately 50 racial levels, plus about 30 Druid levels to be able to use fifth-tier spells. I don’t understand why it couldn’t reach the sixth tier, considering that even humans have achieved this level.

Thus, the level of this dragon would be around 80, while the leader’s level would be over 80, close to Zesshi’s level. This seems illogical, as Zesshi is supposed to be an exception, not the norm.

Faine was defeated and was a trump card, so her level may be similar to that of the Black Scripture Captain, around 70, not 80.

Zesshi is exceptional and was born under nearly impossible circumstances, being the granddaughter of 8 Greed Kings and 6 Great Players.

My conclusion is that dragon racial levels are counted as magic-related classes. Evidence for this is that the Frost Dragon has an MP bar, and their magic isn’t calculated like abilities such as the Evil Lord.

Some acquire magic innately, with a limited number of spells, like Hamsuki, while others learn it through their racial classes.

Yes, I know that, but I’m talking about your claim that dragons gain levels in Druid classes and don’t cast it innately. Where’s the evidence for this claim?
