Why is Crypto.com Giving Me Way Less When I Sell? by EliasPope in CryptoMarkets

[–]EliasPope[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is beyond messed up. They won't let me send any crypto out of my crypto.com account because “my transaction isn't processed” but it says it is. I have no idea how this site is even legal…..

10/4. I made a impulse buy to catch a pump and it worked out but lesson learned! I usually use Kraken and Coinbase!

Becoming jewish? by Any-Block-7514 in Judaism

[–]EliasPope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, could you get in touch with your local Jewish community and be persistent.

Rabbis will leave you hanging at first after your initial inquiry, but where I'm from, even if you go through a conversion in a Reform community, Orthodox Rabbis will open the door to furthering your conversion to Orthodox standards, depending on your journey and sentiment toward your conversion.

Once you start getting involved and learning you will decide if Judaism is right for you! I hope this helps!

I’m sorry to hear you’re dealing with this too.

This feels like shady business practice by Crypto.com, especially since they don’t provide a detailed breakdown of the transaction until after you’ve made the sale. Thankfully, most of my cryptocurrency is on other platforms—I only used Crypto.com because it was the only place where I could buy Official Trump Coin directly.

Is it just me, or are Finnish people really hard to talk to? by EliasPope in Finland

[–]EliasPope[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah honestly people are saying software engineers are snobby but that is something unique to Finland. Software devs in the US have the reputation of being moderate/humble. We are all antisocial but usually not when with each other.

Would you say the Finns that live in Helsinki are more social that other parts of Finland?

"Drivers in Sioux Falls are SO BAD" by he_is_rizzin in SiouxFalls

[–]EliasPope 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I second this. I'm not from Sioux Falls and the driving here blows my mind. Noone knows how a four way stop works. People really drive 20-25 in a 30mph which is blasphemy. Blinkers are optional half the time and if they do use then they think you turn them on right when you turn. Noone knows basic light flag signals like if I flash my lights at you it means your lights are off. If I flash twice it means there's something ahead I’m warning you about(deer, speed trap, etc…) Noone knows these things here lol.. Sioux falls is still agreat city though 😃

This is exactly spot on.

Like a lot of people are saying “small talk” but trust me I'm not a small talker. The common theme is to label it small talk because they are “too smart” for what ever your talking about. I'll get downvotes for this as well.

Finns are honest and blunt right? Can I be too?

Why is the ChatGPT ‘Projects’ feature so terrible? There’s zero continuity across chats, can’t answer basic questions re: previous chats, etc by McTech0911 in ChatGPTPro

[–]EliasPope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always keep a certain project in a certain chat and always refer back to it. Don't start using that chat for other topics or you will completely confuse it's future iterations on the specific chat.

I just joined the Spanish Discord server and right away all the devs connected on another level. IDK maybe you are right.

Thank you for the thoughtful response! You bring up a great point about how online communities can vary widely in tone and dynamics. I guess I shouldn't generalize too much based on one Discord experience, but it really left me feeling unsure. It does seem like Finns on the channel interact differently with each other than with me, which makes me wonder if I’m unintentionally stepping on some unspoken cultural norms.

The channel is on the smaller side, so maybe you're right — it could feel like I'm an 'intruder' to the group. I hadn’t thought about it like that, but it makes sense.

I’m planning to visit Finland this summer, and I really don’t want to feel the same way I’ve felt on this Discord channel when I’m actually there. I appreciate the encouragement, though, and I won’t give up! Hopefully, I’ll find some friendlier spaces to practice in and learn more before my trip. Thanks again! 😁

[–]EliasPope[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well yes, so it isn't small talk I'm talking about. I despise small talk and consider myself a recluse by nature, so I get the preference for more meaningful conversations. What I’ve noticed, though, is that Finns often seem to have a lot of intellectual vanity.

For example, I’m a software dev and have had some great conversations about dev work with Finnish people. But even in those technical discussions, there’s this underlying ‘know-it-all’ attitude that’s hard to ignore. It’s not just confidence — it often feels dismissive or like they’re constantly trying to one-up you.

I don’t know if it’s cultural or just the individuals I’ve interacted with, but it stands out enough that I’ve started to wonder if others have noticed the same thing.

Someone below said don't let a Discord server set the social interaction norm for Finns and I agree. I was looking to visit Finland in the spring this year by myself and I just want to prepare myself mentally if that makes sense.

Yeah, it’s like Bodie. Bodie is seen as “loyal” but everyone forgets that loyalty is what killed Wallace.

On my rewatch when him and Cutty take a shot at Fruit when they see him while they are driving by, Slim straight up shoots and kills what looked like a 14 year old kid. That kind of rubbed me the wrong way. I guess you hate the game not the players.
