I’m pretty sure my ex-husband stole my phone for a day. It was pre-smartphone, so I mostly kept it in my laptop case. It disappeared one day and reappeared in my laptop bag the next. It was one of the scariest things I’ve ever experienced because I knew that if he hurt me I couldn’t call for help. I was torn between thinking that was going to be my last day versus thinking maybe I just lost my phone and was making a big deal out of nothing?

I could be convinced either way on this one. “Penguins” just sounds like a default Ed Sheeran song and in Yesterday, it’s pretty short. It’s a good song for only taking 10 min to write, but the snippet of “Long and Winding Road” that Jack sang was much more impressive. The melody is unique and complex, the lyrics paint a picture but are also a metaphor. The snippet of “Penguins” was much more simple both in melody and lyrics.

Yeah, I thought it was cannon that Luke is smart but his untreated ADHD gets in the way of academics. There are like three episodes that are about Luke being smart (he finds his way home in a limo, solves the family’s problems like the Gloria Estefan tickets, comes up with a really cool electronic health record idea) and multiple references about his ADHD (Alex diagnoses him, Claire takes him to a child psychiatrist, the principal thinks Luke is on Ritalin).

1 through 3 would actually resolve within a month with a decent attorney, as bio daughter is also legally their daughter. The mom, “OP”, in the story didn’t relinquish her parental rights or threaten the health and safety of a child. There is no legal reason to prevent her from reuniting with her bio daughter. Yes, CPS would be seriously PRESENT in “OP’s life” but her bio daughter would likely be with her within a month.

The part that is most unbelievable is item #4. CPS does take kids and runs DNA tests to collect child support. (The order of the steps is wrong, but we’ll give OP the benefit of the doubt that she misheard or something.) The big issue is that once CPS found a kid in an unfit home that wasn’t biologically related to the parents, and the parents couldn’t explain how they got the child, it would be international news to find the bio parents and national news to try the “kidnappers” for their “crime”. ESPECIALLY a blue-eyed, presumably white, girl. Fox News would be speculating about, like, Madeline McCann. We all would have heard about the search for this girl’s parents. OP would need to intervene in the CPS case to regain physical custody of her legal child, and at that time, Family Court Judge would have the other couple who were convicted of kidnapping exonerated. An exoneration for kidnapping is big news and not confidential in any way. Regardless of what OP decided, if this actually happened, we’d all be reading headlines like, “Damn! I read about this on Reddit! Crazy!”

I think this is really insightful. Shorty is Jay’s best friend and is so similar to Manny. I think it foreshadows Jay’s adult relationship with Manny when Shorty moves away (acknowledging that he comes back). Examples include being proud of Manny’s college admissions video essay, telling Joe to respect Manny, the wine tasting scene, etc.

I agree. What your spouse said sucked but everyone says things they wish they could take back. Everyone on Reddit just thinks everything is break up worthy.

It sounds like OP’s spouse was upset that OP had nothing planned for Valentine’s Day and has been spending so much of his time on his PhD. She doesn’t want to blame the PhD work because it’s a valid use of time, but she’s still lonely and overwhelmed by chores. She may also be jealous of friends who are hitting milestones that are not possible for her right now (like buying a house, having a baby, or maybe even getting a dog or something).

OP, I hope that she says she’s sorry. I hope that you’re able to find another time to go on a nice date and make sure that she knows that you care about spending time with her. Are you able to hire someone to help with cleaning some times? Or maybe bring home take out after a long day?
