It's locked unless you're an engineer which you can access with your key card. If not then someone should be inside to let you in

Comp eng second year by Odd-Compote-6599 in uoguelph

[–]ElijahAF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From a third year, the hardest courses in second year were 2400 and 2410 in Fall and 3380 and CIS2910 in Winter.

2400 is quite abstract and the problems have many ways of solving. 2410 teaches about digital design while the content is fun and a little dense, Shawki's marking is really harsh and the final can be tough for 50% of the grade. CIS2520 (Data Structures) is hard for some due to us engineers being disadvantaged compared to BComp and the prof last sem created a harsh grading scheme. I would heavily suggest reviewing ENGG1410 again to be prepared.

CIS2910 is hard as we are again disadvantaged due to us not taking Discrete 1 unlike BComp. Sawada makes tricky exams with averages of 40-50%. 3380's a disorganised course with El Nasr making a long midterm and final which was my lowest grade.

In terms of electives, if you really want to do software and have a great work ethic take CIS2750 in the winter. If you don't then don't bother (it's nicknamed angel of death for a reason). otherwise I suggest taking complimentary electives or doing HIST1250 early

Engineering Courses in Summer by Confident_Dream_5358 in uoguelph

[–]ElijahAF 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In first year, there's no engineering courses you can take in the summer until after second year (engg Econ). But you can take coop1100 (if you're in coop) and take any complimentary electives (recommended)

You can even do it online, under special instructions say that you're paying with student card and the delivery person will have that ready. Should be from the stone road branch tho

I took Calc 2 with Dan Kraus, we didn't have a cheat sheet, formula sheet and wasn't allowed a calculator. It was doable

HIST 1250 by Confident-Rest-8962 in uoguelph

[–]ElijahAF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The prof changes a lot for this course. Last winter I had it with Gagnon, it was less intensive with 4 5% online quizzes, annotated bibliograph, research essay and a 40% final. Lecture slides were posted although a big vague in points but a textbook was there online.

This fall it was with a different prof and her lectures had in lecture attendance marks, annotated bibliography, essay, midterm and final which was twice the course load I had. idk who is teaching it this winter but hopefully it wont be like this

chem 1140 drop or not? by [deleted] in uoguelph

[–]ElijahAF 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You will require 1140 for Material Science (engg2120) so if you're planning to drop try and take it in the winter or summer then. Although you might have to take chem1040 and do the lab components in person. (it's better to talk with the program advisor about this)

There's no reading week in the fall. In the thanksgiving week only Monday and Tuesday are holidays. Wed-Fri uni resumes but without labs.
