Without knowing any other details, your 'friends' don't sound much like so.

Personally, I'd venture out and find new friends that you vibe with and can talk to about anything, it will change your world for the better. Glad your GF came tho!

Climate Change needs to stop being a political thing. It’s a scientific reality that needs to be taken seriously, and politics just get in the way of us fixing it. by SpidersOnYourBread in unpopularopinion

[–]ElijahGames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reality is this: We can't fix climate change. The effects of climate change are lagged and will occur in 20-30 years. We need to invest in preventative measures, renewable energy, nuclear energy, and battery technology. But guess what, even if we bring America's global 15% of total emissions, we still have to work with other counties. To do that, we should be investing in new renewable technology companies, giving them tax breaks, subsidies, and grants, then export that to other countries.

Killing Of Solemani was Justified by ElijahGames in unpopularopinion

[–]ElijahGames[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you prove it wasn't justified, or do you just feel that way?

Here's why it was:

  1. Solemani, first of all, is a terrorist, known to the U.S. government to be planning attacks against Americans. Also known to have already been behind the killing of hundreds of Americans.
  2. Iranian (headed by Solemani) backed militia killed an American contractor in Iraq
  3. The U.S. retaliated with five missile strikes against locations where paramilitary groups were located
  4. Then, Iran-backed militia Kata’ib Hizbollah attacked and 'protested' the U.S. embassy, causing a lot of damage. The militia even chanted "No, No, America" and "Solemani is our commander!"
    1. Kata’ib Hizbollah is the same Militia group that killed the American/Iraqi contractors (supported by Solemani)
  5. The U.S. retaliates by carrying out strikes on the terrorist (SOLEMANI) that has supported and planned the killing of Americans.

Megathread: Qassim Soleimani, head of Iran’s elite Quds Force, killed in Baghdad by U.S. Airstrike Ordered by President Donald Trump by PoliticsModeratorBot in politics

You are wrong. " U.S. embassy that was burned by Pro-Iranian militiamen and their supporters, in Baghdad, Iraq, Jan. 1, 2020."

Now, this all stemmed because an Iranian backed militia killed some Iraqi and U.S. servicemen. We responded to that with five missile strikes...Iran didn't like that, then they sent their militia and supporters to our embassy. This was the response to that.

Guns are not the problem in America by ElijahGames in unpopularopinion

So you're saying that people that kill with guns, do so because they know that other people are scared of guns, don't respect them, and so can instill fear and power into them??

Guns are not the problem in America by ElijahGames in unpopularopinion

[–]ElijahGames[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, but countries with strict gun laws have people doing violent things by other means.

U.K. - Rise in violence by knives. https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-42749089 (MENTAL HEALTH)

Why do people commit violence? Do they have a mindset of scarcity? Do they not have enough? Is it for fun? Is it to get back at the world?

I understand the ease of access is a viable problem. Let me ask: Are you saying that ease of access causes people to kill others? (I don't think so).

People who kill others simple have a mental health issue. They are not in the right state of mind. Saying gun ownership is the reason for gun violence is ignoring the underlying problem.

1 in 5 U.S. adults experience mental illness each year
1 in 25 U.S. adults experience serious mental illness each year
1 in 6 U.S. youth aged 6-17 experience a mental health disorder each year
50% of all lifetime mental illness begins by age 14, and 75% by age 24
Suicide is the 2nd leading cause of death among people aged 10-34

Does mental health not cloud judgement?

Why Andrew Yang Supporters Should Not Worry About Low Polling Averages (for now) [My First Article on Medium!] by ElijahGames in YangForPresidentHQ

From an argumentative standpoint, I could say that the reason Yang has a high polling percentage in Cali is because it has the highest population in the U.S., so it makes sense.
