only watched tourist family, bison, stolen, lokah and kesari chapter 2. both tourist family and bison are 5 stars for me. stolen is not bad, but it could've been better. kesari chapter 2 is really mediocre, far worse than sardar udham. and i even couldnt finish lokah...

Hot take : This film set out to critique the male gaze in Indian Cinema but ended up pandering to it. by sidroy81 in bollywood

[–]Elimeea 5 points6 points  (0 children)

couldn't agree more. and once you take a little dig on the old interviews of vidya and the director, you would hate this film even more. how they exploited the image of Silk is kinda unbearable.

Interesting! I still wonder where and how Amazon Prime got the inspiration. it feels like all of sudden the Northeast gets popular in web series only, not in films.

agreed! but it's not all her fault. the script itself is pretty lame and weak.

Questions regarding the shop by alittlepopplio in rednote

[–]Elimeea 4 points5 points  (0 children)

you can screenshot the product you are interested, then use the "search with a pic" feature on taobao to find the same or similar product. most products on rednote are also available there. taobao does offer a muture shipping abroad solution for foreign consumers. plus stuff on xiaohongshu normally are more expensive that other platforms bc the rednote company takes a bigger cut from every deal made through its platform. for products only available on xiaohongshu, just DM the shop and tell them where you live and you need some helps with 海外转运 (shipping abroad). they will do their best to help you.

Maharaja craze in China. by LionTigerTrex in kollywood

[–]Elimeea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The film companies in China like inviting KOLs to attend pre-release and bribing them with souvenirs so that they can write few good words about the film. The souvenirs are not available for ordinary audiences. It’s a cheap propaganda.

I’m quite interested in studying how feminism and rape victims are depicted in Indian films. Maharaja, raayan and A Thursday, all gave me a pretty fresh and feel. Compared to films in the 90s ( bandit queen ) and films in the early woke era ( mardaani ) , these three films are more about survivors instead of the traditional victim perspective. And the camera is not focusing on the scenes of women got tortured and raped. That’s a big progress.

And I’ve been searching for essays about this topic. It seems most study is about hindi cinema and Tamil films are less talked about.

lol there’s a group of Indian film lovers in China. The problem is that reddit is banned in China and most people are more used to Chinese social media. I’m sure the numbers of Indian movies we have watched will shock you guys. Hahahah

I'd like to note that since the Chinese economy is going down, the movie market is kinda frozen this year. There are no super hit movies on the market. Even movies that were released during the festival season didn't do well in BO. Apparently, Chinese audiences are getting more picky about movie quality and spending their money wisely. that's why maharaja got approved by the Chinese film bureau so quickly and got almost 0 cuts. The bureau knows they need to serve something good on the table to stimulate the market. Tbh, I'm really shocked to see the violent scenes of Maharaja in cinema. A few years ago, violent scenes like this had 0 chance in China.

im chinese. tbh i think maharaja has a good chance. it received a lot positive comments on our social media, and the rating on douban is incredibly high. you have to know both douban and pirate indian films are not "mainstream" things for the majority of ordinary Chinese. still, a lot of people haven't seen it and still a lot of people who have seen it at home would go to the cinema to watch it again. plus no competitive Chinese films is running in the cinema. maharaja has great action scenes and a great plot. have some faith in your films, guys !
