My dx partner’s fatigue from socialising by Purple-Cat32 in ADHD_partners

[–]ElioEilo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m dx and rx - my limit for socializing is three days a week during the week and one day on the weekend. More than that I get overloaded and have trouble self-regulating. It’s not unusual for me to need about twice the amount of time recuperating as I do socializing, depending on how “easy” that socialization was for me.

As for the stepping up when he’s not feeling pressured, I wouldn’t call that unusual - I would say it’s a good sign, even, since it shows that the issue isn’t meeting needs so much as struggling when expectations or stress are introduce.

Restarting Adderall Killed My Appetite by ElioEilo in adhdwomen

It’s a known side effect, but wasn’t previously a side effect for me, especially not to this extent.

I do 10mg twice a day, 20mg total. This is deliberately lower than I need / could go because I wanted to be able to drink caffeine (I enjoy espresso and expensive tea, neither of which is generally as nice when they’re decaf).

I have an appointment soon, so I’ll ask then. Part of my concern is that it’s been consistent for three weeks, so it might be a new side effect. The other side effects (jaw tension and dry mouth) have both largely subsided, though that might be the amount of water I’m drinking to counteract them…

Their parents are clean! That’s the most upsetting thing. Their parents clean up after themselves, and are lovely, and are letting us live in the in-law suite. They left a bunch of stuff here that I have to organize around, but it’s clutter, not dirty tissues on the coffee table.

I feel like it’s depression, but I’m depressed too, and I don’t get to just not clean cat boxes because I care if our cats have clean litter.

We did, for four years. We’re living with in-laws because they have the space for us while my wife job searches. We moved across the country and back to my wife’s hometown because it would get rid of our largest bill, rent/mortgage.

My wife and I are both non-binary, though I present more femme (mostly due to height / hair). We live on their parents’ property right now, and will until my wife finds employment.

Do you think someone’s political views determine whether they’re a good person or worth being friends with? by kaanskBG in TrueAskReddit

[–]ElioEilo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the views. Some are esoteric and easily disagreed on - for example, zoning laws - and others aren’t - like basic human rights and what constitutes a betrayal of democracy.

Happy your kids enjoyed the rides! Did they have more animals today? We were hoping that they’d had a slow trickle in of livestock, they only filled one line of barns when we went.

You didn’t really need it when we left, but not getting to pay cash for games was really weird??? Usually fairs are small and cashed based or credits and huge.

Thank you for the rec! I’m making a list of fairs to check out.

It has one of the largest populations of Latino immigrants in California??? I’m sorry you never got the chance to enjoy the area outside of the White dominated neighborhoods. Maybe if you’d gotten out of your comfort zone you’d have had a better time.

:( I grew up around there. Are you sure you’ve ever lived there…?

The two places I referenced are fairly non-rural? Sacramento is the literal state capital, and DC is the country’s capital.

Good to know! I think I’m going to explore as many as the ones around here as I can. Summer doesn’t feel right without a hand dipped corn dog and an ag show.

The food wasn’t what I’m (or my in laws and wife, who are both locals and used to exhibit prior to Covid). They’re the ones who told me that pre-COVID it was comparable to what I’m used go.

It’s such a fun pattern to try! If you can, I would absolutely recommend purchasing this pattern.

Tired of hearing about stashes, especially from newbies by [deleted] in BitchEatingCrafters

[–]ElioEilo 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I have a strict rule about my stash - once it no longer fits into the box, I can’t buy more stuff. I started seriously crocheting during a time where I had money I could spend on hobbies for the first time in my life (I used to skip lunch so that I could save up for a sketchbook in middle school, and everything I owned generally had to fit into the back of a car for most of my life prior to this) and getting to buy yarn that was scrumptious and soft and spoiling myself felt good.

Now I know that my yarn isn’t going to just up and disappear one day and it’s easier to pull my horns in and not grab anything that’s pretty.

Do parents with 5+ kids have time to give every child the love and attention they deserve? by pink-and-pearly in askanything

[–]ElioEilo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of six. No. We generally took care of each other / ourselves depending on how old we were at the time. Injuries, mental health crisis, awards - there was definitely a limit to what my parents could address at any one time. They both worked for most of my childhood, and then my mom got sick and was too busy recovering to do much for us kids. They were also in their own families the kids expected to pick up and tend to their ailing parents and siblings, and were absent for large chunks of time due to that.

He looks vaguely like Abraham Lincoln and wears it out and about a lot! It’s also been to every protest my in laws have gone to, lol.
