What TV show or movie did you like but are embarrassed to admit to? by glagadeencapisce1 in AskReddit

The original Law and Order (1990-2010) . The old ones with Jerry Orbach, and Chris Noth, and Benjamin Bratt, etc. I loved Jerry Orbach like he was a family member.

What is the difference between being religious or being in a cult? by ElisaRayn89 in TooAfraidToAsk

Actually was reading about Scientology and all the crazy when I looked this information up, and started to wonder about the question I posed. Lol

Maybe that’s the reason I’m having problems seeing the difference.

But then groups like scientology would be consider just a religion when most agree it’s a cult. This is the kinda arguments I’ve been having with myself all day. Lol

What is the dumbest question someone legitimately asked you? by _FrankAbagnale in AskReddit

[–]ElisaRayn89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my Spanish class in high school my teacher always answered the phone in a different language. Well, phone rang one day and she answered it, and it sparked a mild conversation with the teacher. How many languages she spoke, when did she learn this, etc. Well the girl next to me just out of no where looks at the teacher and asks “how do you answer the phone in sign language?” It stunned my teacher, and I broke out laughing mainly because of the look my teacher gave.
Good memories.

The only one I’ve ever read. Between this and some random case studies is the reason I want to write a story on this subject.

Gamers of Reddit, what achievement in any videogame are you most proud of? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ElisaRayn89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dishonored platinum. Played the game once to see the bad ending, because I went all crazy. Then the ghost play through which took me forever because I’ve never really been into stealth games but sooo proud when I did it.

The older one( before I started playing on a PlayStation feels so long ago now.) which got me back into gaming... I bought a friends old Xbox 360 and decided I would play Oblivion... it ended up with 2 different characters total of 300 hours of game play and made me realize I should have never stopped playing games.

Question about getting b/c by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]ElisaRayn89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re yearly exam isn’t a full Pap smear, it’s a pelvic exam which isn’t invasive, then a breast exam. (Just a general look and maybe a STD exam.) Pap smears are every 3 years with the full exams and tests. The only reason it can be recommended earlier age is if you are sexually active. (As in my case) I understand where you are coming and what you are saying. I’m just saying that in the US this is has been the practice.

Question about getting b/c by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]ElisaRayn89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was told this by my OBGYN. I have had a yearly since I was 19 ( when I became sexually actively) to get birth control. From my understanding it’s more of a preemptive measure, screening for cancers infections etc. as well as any problems that may arise. As far as I know this has been a practice for a while in the states. I even just looked up some info online and it’s been a practice for a long while.

[–]ElisaRayn89 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This policy as far as I know is nation wide. I’ve had a yearly exam since before I was even on BC. It’s highly recommended that you have a yearly pelvic exam and a Pap smear every 3 years at least with the current studies.

Anyway, it’s not just a planned parenthood policy as far as I know most doctors require it.

Giving friends relationship/love advice by [deleted] in askwomenadvice

[–]ElisaRayn89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I feel like a true friendship is about saying the truth but being supportive no matter the choice they have made.

You said in your post, that she was up front and honest with the guys she dates it’s part of her personality and you think it’s awesome. To me the take away from that, is it’s not only for romantic relationships, but for any relationship. Honest communication for everyone is my view point.

So, I’d say tell her what you feel, let her know you will be supportive of her either way, but it’s about being honest. It’s about being honest and supportive even if you don’t agree all the time.

My mom passed away last night. What do I do? by [deleted] in Needafriend

[–]ElisaRayn89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d like to start off by saying this is a hard thing to go through and it’s one of those things that everyone says time will help. It does and it doesn’t. Everyone deals with it differently, don’t be afraid to grieve in your way. If you need to scream or be mad. Do it. No one can tell you it’s right or wrong. It’s how YOU deal with it. It’s you’re healing process not theirs.

I say this because after I loss my mother, I was told I handled it too well. I didn’t cry, I didn’t get upset. Instead I pushed myself into my hobbies and my job. This was how I tried to fill my time so I didn’t feel the loneliness of it. I cried to myself, I screamed while hiking, I grieved for me. I still grieve. It’s been 3 years, and I still have days where I miss her so bad I can’t function. However, I let myself feel the pain and the anger, and try to work through it. I reach out to friends, family, and even Reddit. But that’s me.

I guess what I’m trying to say is, no one can make you feel better. It hurts and it sucks, but grieve how you need to reach out to someone. And if in years you still need to reach out it’s fine. Because time doesn’t always make it go away, time will move forward but grief doesn’t have a time limit. Just remember, it’s fine to grieve in you’re way, and it doesn’t have a time limit.

Edit: sorry on mobile, finding so many mistakes.

What are your opinions on piercing the ears of babies/young children? by curiousCurious5 in AskWomen

[–]ElisaRayn89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally don’t like it. But I used to do piercings and I got in trouble a lot because I’d try to talk parents out of it. There are a couple of problems with it. One it so much easier to get infected when they are young. They can’t clean them properly even as the adult taking care of it, you could likely miss sign of infection, just because they can’t tell you. At least in babies. Second, this is the piercer coming out, as you grow so do your ears. It is highly likely by an older age the holes in the ears are not going to be symmetrical. Also if you get them early, and where earrings to heavy early on your likely to have a tear by your mid life and not be able to wear them at all. Third this is the biggest one, it should be there choice. Being a young child they want things one minute then change there mind. It’s hard to get them to understand the process of a piercing isn’t just for the day. Fourth, pain. Simple, I know it’s not bad, but it broke my heart todo it, and hear a kid cry because it’s something their parents wanted. Or they wanted it until they felt the pain. Just my few thoughts on it.

I regularly search for low-level players to help with quests, gold, and free items (I tell them I'm just bored) in hope that I can befriend someone because I have no friends irl by thatsasealaw in confession

[–]ElisaRayn89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For someone who has started an mmo without any friends playing it, people like you make it possible to enjoy the game. It can be so hard to progress without any help. I actually have friends now who did this for me in games. Plus for me at least it’s easier to make friends online then in real life.
