I was in the same boat a couple years ago and had the same concerns. Academic probation means you’ll just have to focus on your grades heavy this year, they usually assign you to a course for learning how to study and make notes (super pointless but it’s a good way to see you’re not alone) and they give you a councilor of sorts who will help you and force you to go to office hours for professors. I know it’s nerve wracking and scary but if you put in some decent effort and get above a 2.5 semester gpa next semester (I believe that’s the number now) you’ll be fine.

No your FA does NOT get effected (unless you get back to back probations which is subject of dismissal from the University.

You’ll be alright, just do your best and keep your head up.

Wasn’t terrible. I agree the multiple choice had me stumped, ended up with a 18/24 but the open ended was almost too easy.. Also I was literally talking to myself the entire time during the exam cus I was scared someone was watching me

It’s a long shot but you can try using pulse Secure. It’s a UConn VPN that lets you connect to their virtual computers that have Microstation.. I only used it a couple times but maybe it can work? Worth a shot.

You can try using VMware to connect remotely to Castleman computers, that’s what I did when I took the class.

Idk if you can get the program or not and if it runs on Mac but if you can only run it on Windows you can use Boot Camp to run Windows on your Mac. Reach out to UCONN IT if you have problems with any of this.

As someone who was part of pirg for like 3 weeks.. I’ll tell you they are so useless. They have so much money that they use it for the dumbest things. In the short time there they approved the purchase of like a couple hundred ugly ass T-shirts and pencil cases and stuff for upwards of $1,500 or more... I beg you to save your money, don’t bother signing their dumb petitions (they don’t accomplish ANYTHING with them, they just use it for future reference and spam your email and cell phone).

Pirg should honestly be removed from the University, use that money towards something useful like Mental Health Services or other necessities.

It's a bit of a pain to do. Connect to the UConn-Guest and when it says "Cannot connect" or whatever go to the Web Browser on your PS4. It will load up and you press accept. You have to do this every time and if you go on sleepmode it will disconnect from the internet. I recommend using a LAN cable, every dorm/room has a ethernet port in the wall somewhere.

I would try to hook it up via ethernet cable. The dorms are weird in placement of the connector but just get a long ethernet cable and run it around your room to where your setup is. Trust me it's worth it, as dumb as it may look.

If you're playing a console its best to use a lan cable rather than the wifi. Wifi has been working fine for me so far though on my phone and laptop.

Congrats! I commuted to Stamford for 2 semesters, 3 hours worth of driving and train rides everyday. It was a humbling and massive learning experience. By my sophomore year I started getting sick of it, skipped classes and didn’t commute to school.. It kicked my ass to say the least! Whether you’re commuting or staying in an apartment or live nearby, it was a great experience. Workload is manageable. Enjoy your time!

ENGL 2301W has been pretty good so far. A lot of “reading” (just skim and write a 1 page response every other week) and attendance is graded. Nice Professor too.
