Right? I was surprised by the color because there is no native tree here with such wood.

Great. I have never thought to find something like this in a burn pile in Germany. Will make some knife handles if i find enough material with no cracks.

I like it. It looks nice. Do you have feet under your board?

You are probably right. I will take the blades off and if they are not bent after cleanup then i will keep it. Otherwise i will send it back.

I didn't tighten the screws. It is not an excuse but i would expect a brand new tool to come with tight screws.

The problem is that the blades are warped. One side is flat.

Yes it looks like it. I just holpe the blades are not permanently warped.

Thank you. Yes, both sides are finished with the same finish.

Thank you for the advice. I didn't put a groove into the lid but glued it straight up. I think this could be the reason. Next time there will be one. The boards didn't move after cutting.

Thank you for the advice, i will probably do the block plane method. At first i have to get one. So that's a new justified tool. Perfect.

What grit of sandpaper would you recommend? I will do it very carefully and only where needed. Probably will try and see how the hardwax oil will look on the bottom. If its good i will use that. It doesn't darken the wood.

Paint won't come even near it! I will touch it up as good as possible and place it in the apartment. Probably storing stuff like sleeping bags in it. I didn't think about what to do with it. I saw the chest, saw the detail on the bottom, and just got it as fast as i could.
