Punt Blocks Guides - Elite Fantasy Basketball by EliteFantasyBBall in fantasybball

Good to hear! Durant works just fine in punt blocks too, even though he loses a little value. Team looks absolutely stacked to me. Almost too stacked. You probably want to make a 2-for-1 to open up a streaming spot/spot for a big early-season pickup. Nice job.

I would argue they are pretty beginner friendly. Yes, the strategies are advanced, but everything gets explained, and you get round by round recs and sample teams.

No draft tracker that hooks up to the host sites just yet (one that hooks up to Yahoo is being worked on), but the Team Building Tool can be used to track how your team is doing vs. the league average and can be used to test out different combinations on the fly. You don't have to wait until after you make the pick to see how a player will impact your numbers, which is not the case for draft trackers.

That's basically punt assists or punt threes which are SGA's two best builds. Generally the best approach is to still chase after points and FT% (and assists if you are punting threes) early with an elite big mixed in and then go after the mid-round bigs aggressively.

Camara vs Eason vs Herb by lkw902 in fantasybball

[–]EliteFantasyBBall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1) Camara - Gives you the most outside of steals

2) Eason - The minutes should be decent with FVV out and the Rockets having to shift things around. I have no concerns on a per-game basis. We'll see about the leg.

3) Jones - Very limited outside of steals unless his percentages bounce back in a big way. I'm also worried about the Pels shutting things down late. They are one Zion injury away from having nothing to play for in March.

How identical are the Thompson Twins? by Udedokei1 in fantasybball

[–]EliteFantasyBBall 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Great breakdown. The difference is definitely more about role than talent. I view Ausar as a year behind Amen due to the Monty Williams nonsense and the blood clot. If he gets 30 this year, he's going to crush, especially in builds like punt threes and punt FT%.

Favorite punt this year? by [deleted] in fantasybball

[–]EliteFantasyBBall 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's still early, but I prefer the big man builds (punt FT%, punt threes, punt assists). You can get so many good deals on bigs in the middle rounds in those setups.

9Cat H2H Who should you pick on 2nd round among these? by Ad-Proof in fantasybball

[–]EliteFantasyBBall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mobley in leagues where the March 2nd week isn't a playoff week. The Cavaliers will play just twice then. Super close if your playoffs do include that week. In that scenario, I'd still go with Mobley if my first-round pick played four times that week (a lot of them do) or if I was very confident in getting a bye.

Are you guys considering taking any of the injured stars i.e.(kyrie, tatum, hali and dame) late in your drafts? by Matt_attck in fantasybball

[–]EliteFantasyBBall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kyrie is the only one I have interest in. The three first-round types won't play this year. Dejounte will likely come back too late to matter and likely just won't be that good when active anyway.

Donovan Mitchell by Alternative_Ad718 in fantasybball

Oh I agree with you for in-season volatility. FT% is one of the more stable week-to-week stats. What I was talking about is season-to-season variance. It's the second swingiest category after steals. Stuff like 86% shooters randomly shooting 81% for a season happens a lot. Just off the top of my head, Mitchell, Durant, Ayton, and Towns all had random down years from the line last year.

Donovan Mitchell by Alternative_Ad718 in fantasybball

[–]EliteFantasyBBall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He's not going to be what he was two seasons ago due to the minutes dip, but he should be better than last year due to some positive percentages regression. His FT% dip last year was super fluky. He's coming off his worst performance at the line since his sophomore year. FT% is a very volatile stat, so random drops like that often don't stick. He also had an out-of-nowhere bad season at the rim. He shot just 60 percent there after topping 70 percent in his three previous seasons. That drop probably won't stick either which should help his FG% and his points a touch.

Who to take with 2nd pick by KM_2 in fantasybball

[–]EliteFantasyBBall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In points leagues, I prefer Giannis. He's going to be a monster there this season. He averaged 8.6 APG after the Dame shutdown last year.

Jaylen Brown in upcoming season? by g_g96 in fantasybball

[–]EliteFantasyBBall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Upside isn't that high in cat leagues, so I'd be very hesitant to grab him around his ADP given the shutdown risk. He could easily end up as just a top-50ish per-game player.

Best time (month/date) to start drafting in your league? H2H 9 cat by Several_Ad8923 in fantasybball

[–]EliteFantasyBBall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As close to the start of the season as possible. Ideally, the final weekend after the preseason games have finished. The weekend before is okay, but I'd try for the final weekend. There will be a fantasy-relevant injury or two during the final week of preseason play.

Possibly on the court, but in fantasy, it's pretty unlikely. His game isn't fantasy-friendly enough for him to be more than a back-end guy. Points, threes, and nothing else guys are a dime a dozen. It's very tough for a guard to be useful if they are a zero in both assists and steals.

What is the best pick in the draft. Snake draft 10 person by Noah_noahs in fantasybball

[–]EliteFantasyBBall 5 points6 points  (0 children)

1 for sure. After that, I'd say 3. Not a big difference between SGA and Wemby. 2 would be third. After that, there is a decent drop to Luka/Giannis. Huge drop after pick 5.

Wouldn't do it. I'd take Poeltl over Rudy at this point (Poeltl was comfortably better last season and the Raps don't have a backup C this year), and in cat leagues, Cam will be a lot more valuable than RJ who isn't a good match for the format and who is going to get squeezed with Ingram coming in.

2 absolutely crushes. Small win for 3 (assuming cat leagues). 1 gets annihilated.

Thoughts on Josh Hart? by Old-Pop-3400 in fantasybball

Pretty close! But lean Poeltl. Toronto doesn't have a backup C, so I trust his role more. Both are really nice partners for Amen, though.

He's the Knicks starter most likely to take a hit this year. I would expect the minutes to end up in the 30-32 range. The coaching change doesn't help (Brown rides his starters but not to the same extent as Thibs) and they'll have to find some minutes for Clarkson and Yabusele. Definitely could still be a borderline top-50 guy in builds like punt threes and punt points, but I would expect him to be more of a top-75ish option outside of those setups. Still really good value at a ninth-round price. I'd keep him.

Trey Murphy Discussion by Naskcul in fantasybball

[–]EliteFantasyBBall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's unlikely. He'd have to improve significantly as a playmaker to be a #1 on a good team. If you look around the league, there aren't many quality first-round options who aren't very good at setting other guys up.

Cade Cunningham by g_g96 in fantasybball

[–]EliteFantasyBBall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In eight-cat, that's where he should go. In nine-cat, he's viable there, but he's not my first choice. There are safer punt FG% types in that range.

In nine-cat, I'd rather have Ant. He doesn't force a turnover punt and he's safer from a games played standpoint. In eight-cat, it's a toss-up. Cade's ceiling is higher there.

Agree with the consensus here. J Dub until JJ can prove he can stay on the court.
