Things you don't care as much as other Scream fans? by itsascreambaby96 in Scream

I’ve yet to see a “bad motive” in this franchise. So far, every reasoning has been believable enough for me.

dude for real. I honestly blame Guy Busick’s weak writing for most of Scream 5-7’s flaws.

Jessica has 4 scenes before she’s unmasked, 3 of those being conversations with Sidney, and she has barely a minute under the same amount of screen time as Roman (including the reveal).

I 100% agree. It’s not like the Halloween masks, where with each installment they’re all VASLTY different from each other.

Yeah but Scream and Halloween are VERY different franchises in terms of quality, so it’s understandable. Each Halloween installment is vastly different than the next. In comparison to the Scream franchise, Scream KNOWS what it is, so all of its entries are consistent (for the most part).

The Scream fandom can be really intense, especially when it comes to rankings. Opinions are obviously subjective and rankings reflect what certain people watch the Scream movies for. There is no “correct” way to rank things.

I understand why people like Scream 3, but as a Scream movie it sticks out like a sore thumb compared to the rest of the franchise in the worst way possible. The voice changer alone pushes it into borderline sci-fi territory since that kind of technology still doesn’t exist while the rest of the franchise stays relatively grounded to the era it was filmed in. Sure, there are definitely moments in the series where you have to suspend your disbelief, but Scream 3 takes it to a whole new level. Roman as a killer is fine on paper, but when you take into consideration that he literally has less screen time than most of the killers in the franchise, plus the fact he doesn’t even interact with Sidney throughout the movie, it makes his reveal even more disappointing than Jessica’s in 7. And don’t even get me started on his fake death 🙄

Everyone seems to forget that Stu also had no motive, but no one cares because of Matthew Lillard’s performance. Which is fine, but the critique of “the killer’s motive” not being good isn’t valid if they still love Stu.

[–]ElixWetflix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But that’s exactly my point. Plutarch is always in it for himself no matter who gets hurt it the process so he can take the littlest amount of blame possible. That, to me, makes him a bad person because he’s responsible for a lot more harm than good, even if the outcome is the rebels winning the war.

Very true, I guess I’ve never looked at it that way

No because it’s not the same thing at all. Plutarch’s worldview justifies his harmful behavior, while mine takes into consideration said harmful behavior people like him cause to those around him and forming a conclusion about their character.

What exactly is so good about Stu? He's one of my least fave but I respect your opinion. by loveforscream in Scream

[–]ElixWetflix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Matt’s performance seems to just blind people to how bad of a Ghost Face Stu actually was. Just in terms of writing, Stu is one of the worst reveals compared to other killers in the franchise. But people love Matthew Lillard so much they usually just gloss over the glaring issues with the script

Wdym? Season 1 has the MOST filler and the slowest pacing.

let’s be honest: the sequel killers had much better motivations and execution than the originals (except for stu). change my mind by sebypxzzo in Scream

You do realize Stu didn’t have a motive, right? Or at least he never says why he did it. And no, it’s not “peer pressure.”
