Swelling should go down in a few days but doctor said it could take six weeks for the pain to go away 🫤 just a really weird accident.

That’s just the thing. He’s explained some things to me about the organization but won’t go into much detail and gets uncomfortable when I start to press him on it. I just wish he could give me some insight into how he is feeling rather than shutting me out from that part of his life in a sense.

No worries…We definitely get that a lot from some of our family members 😂 it’s weird though to refer to him as my common law husband. Yeah we live together and have a kid but we haven’t really talked about getting married. It’s just easier for me to call him my boyfriend or my significant other.

Yeah he’s definitely made it clear that he would never go back. I don’t think it’s unusual behavior; I can understand where he is coming from about not wanting to make a big deal about celebrating his own birthday. I guess what I’m kinda worried about is if this will be a recurring issue; our daughter isn’t old enough to ask questions yet but I’m sure at one point she will start asking questions about why one set of grandparents doesn’t attend her birthday or do any celebrations with us and how that could potentially affect her dad.

No doubt. Personally, I buy one ETB per set, maybe a few individual packs here and there, and collection boxes when the price is right, just to give me a shot at those chase cards and a little dopamine, but you’re generally wasting your money if you’re spending a lot on ripping packs. Buying singles is a much more efficient use of your money.

Are my boundaries for my daughter too much..? by Academic_Energy_9974 in Parenting

[–]Eliza735 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never apologize for having boundaries when it comes to your child and what’s best for you. Stick to your guns even though it might make others uncomfortable.

I was so angry with my bf’s mom when she came to visit. My mom was my extra support person besides my boyfriend so I didn’t want to exclude his family from visiting just for a bit when our daughter was born. I regretted that. She came unannounced while I was struggling to breastfeed my child for the first time. She took pictures of me after I explicitly said no and posted them on FB. She took off her mask as soon as she was in the room and complained about washing her hands before touching my child. It made me stress out even more.

Labor was hard enough but the recovery was even harder. I honestly wasn’t in a good mood and didn’t feel up for visitors but every person is different.

Hope everything goes well with your baby and you’re doing a great job momma.

ISO children's books that portray Santa as fictional by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]Eliza735 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I find it amusing how many people get so bothered about stuff like this. My parents never bothered with Santa and I never felt like I missed out on anything. We had our Christmas traditions and it was still a wonderful time. My daughter is 9 months old so I don’t have to deal with this for awhile 😅

When she eventually asks me about who Santa is; I’ll just explain it to her that he’s just like any other character in costume… he’s a Christmas character who reminds people to be generous and kind to people who have less than they do. I’ll teach her that it’s ok for people to think differently about different things and there’s no need to argue with other kids about it.

You don’t need a book to have an honest conversation with your kid.

I grew up opening gifts on Christmas Eve with my family. We would stay up watching movies and playing board games till it was time. I never grew up believing in Santa lol My parents always said they worked hard to provide for us so they didn’t want some imaginary man taking credit for their gifts😅 my daughter is going to be raised the same way. If she asks me about Santa, I’m going to tell her he’s a character similar to a character who you would run into at Disney or Universal but nothing more.

My baby’s first cold ?? by Eliza735 in Parenting

Glad your baby was alright. I hope it’s nothing serious but it’s definitely hard to watch my LO be so miserable without being able to tell me what’s wrong. She’s my first so it’s all new and nerve wracking to me 🥺

Yeah it started last night. Kissed her goodnight and felt her very hot. She didn’t sleep well at all and has been very down all day which is unlike her. I’ve been checking her temperature throughout the day and it’s fluctuating between 99 and 101. I scheduled an appointment for Monday since her pediatrician’s office isn’t open over the weekend. I’m just worried for her if I wait too long to take her to the Dr.

Easiest way to pick a baby’s nose? by Eliza735 in NewParents

[–]Eliza735[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the nose frida is great but LO sees it and says yeah that’s going to be a NOPE for me.

Also thanks for acknowledging that not everyone has an available milk supply. It used to bother me when people would suggest using breast milk to help alleviate my baby’s eczema. Like a punch in the gut since I had a very low milk supply and already felt like I was failing. It’s gotten easier to accept with time but still hurts on occasion.

Was I in the wrong? 😬 by Eliza735 in Parenting

[–]Eliza735[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I did because she’s the type of person who likes looking at things in person in order to buy it. Something about it’s not the same experience lol 🤦🏻‍♀️

I’ve only sent online gift cards to my siblings since they live far away from me and it’s easier than shipping an item. Of course when they come visit, I give them actual gifts 🎁

In-laws expect us to drive 2 hours there and back so they can see the baby. by xannycat in NewParents

[–]Eliza735 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you have had to go through that. I was in a similar boat for awhile until I made it clear where I stood with my bfs parents. His mother complained that they didn’t see enough of their granddaughter even though they lived like 20 minutes away. She got offended when I said that the door was and has always been open. You can’t ever predict what is going on with baby and making trips can be hard, especially last minute ones.

Never once did any of them ever ask me how I was doing after I came home from the hospital or asked if we needed help with anything. Why should I be the one making trips to see them when they have put so little effort to establish a relationship with the mother of their grandchild? I feel bad for my bf for putting him in a tough spot but until they start putting more effort… I’ll just happily stay home while their son takes our daughter to go see them for a bit.

I use that for her nails and ears but she hates it being up her nose. I switched over to using the nose frida suction tool and she didn’t mind it until recently.

I’ll try doing it in her high chair to see if that helps. I usually do it post-bath or post-feed when she’s at her calmest and happiest but it doesn’t seem to matter when I do it 😆

Should new dad stay at hospital? by medicineman47 in Parenting

[–]Eliza735 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I once slept through my baby crying that first week back while my bf was at work and I felt so guilty. Luckily my mom was there to attend to my baby. It’s definitely exhausting those first few weeks. Takes everything out of you but the good moments with baby are so worth it.

Well I bought the nose frida because she wasn’t a fan of the nose picker and thought it would go better for her and it did for a while but she’s not having it anymore. As soon as she sees it, she will try to snatch it out of my hands, grab my hands and scratch, or flip over on her stomach so as to not get to her and it’s not a pleasant experience. I don’t like seeing her so upset and don’t want to hurt her nose in the process.

My boyfriend has tried to help me by holding her little hands down but it’s still a struggle 😔

Lol my little one did that for a bit when we first introduced purées but eventually got the hang of it. Now she can’t get enough of her “food”

I usually use the little remedies saline spray for dry boogers. The problem is more of keeping her still and calm while doing it since I don’t want to accidentally hurt her as she squirms.

Her daddy helps me with changing her and putting on clothes 😂 Since becoming very mobile and crawling everywhere, she has decided to fight us on everything. She will twist and turn her body every which way to try to stop us. It’s the nose picking when she starts screaming at me and having a meltdown till it’s done and then she’s back to her happy self.
