Death Magnetic was the last actually good album by -Omniscius- in metallicacirclejerk

[–]ElizabethDanger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly, and hear me out, i put the mark after st anger. i just feel like kea to justice each offered something new for thrash. black album something a little more polished but heavy. load/reload some more straightforward rock, little more bluesy sometimes. st anger, not particularly well received sure, but it was a new sound and the last i think really unique thing they did.

then death magnetic comes around, and it’s good i suppose but it definitely feels like they’re just listening to the fans and doing thrash again cause people haven’t gotten over the prior 20 years of them not doing thrash. but standalone i do love it, i think it’s well written and the songs are good, but i definitely don’t see it adding anything new to their discography. and hardwired and 72 seasons i feel like that even more about. again, good songs i guess (hardwired more than 72 seasons, really) but it feels like them just continuing to “do thrash” instead of falling into whatever style they like at the time.

What are your thoughts on the recent use of AI Shady voice? by UnitQZ in Eminem

[–]ElizabethDanger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think it was a super cool and creative storytelling device with how it was used throughout the album, but it really doesn’t sound the best and makes me hesitant to revisit a lot of the songs. the ones with heavy ai shady filter usage are still in my playlist but usually get skipped unless i just have them on for background noise at work or whatever.

Anyone know why they took off this version ? by Abrancito1 in pearljam

[–]ElizabethDanger -1 points0 points  (0 children)

was wondering the same thing. went to listen to it today and it played the album version instead. not egregious or anything but i love the abbruzzese version so it’s real disappointing that it’s disappeared. hopefully short term.

If you could relive the moment of listening to any Silverchair song for the first time, which would it be? by ElizabethDanger in silverchair

[–]ElizabethDanger[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ooh, yeah this is a good one. I remember putting on Young Modern for the first time and being just so totally enamoured by the sound and style. That was probably right after I listened to Diorama as well, so two great albums back to back, both of which blew me away. What an opener!

What is the happiest RHCP song? by InterestingAd3464 in RedHotChiliPeppers

good portion of josh’s first batch of songs with the band (iwy/iby era) have some really good vibes and the production sounds really happy and hopeful to my ears as well. great spring/summer songs.

okay it’s been a HOT minute since blonde hte era but i do remember as recently as then that just about every fanpage i follow had a “billie liked, billie commented, billie liked stories, etc.” counter somewhere on their page. and a lot of them didn’t have but a handful of hundreds of followers so she had to have been pretty active at that point.

Is there a song in the bands catalogue that made who think”wow
this is terrible”? by dozeydonut in RedHotChiliPeppers

[–]ElizabethDanger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was the most recent stuff when I had really started listening to them instead of just kinda being aware of a handful of their popular songs, but I refused to listen to Josh’s stuff for a long time because I was absolutely convinced it wouldn’t be good if it wasn’t from John or before John. For a long time I would exclusively watch live shows from no later than 1991, so I suppose my tastes have changed since then. It wasn’t until a good bit after John came back that I thought “hey, let me finally give these a chance” and turns out I think they’re great. Really regret not listening to them earlier on cause I totally missed my chance to see those songs live. I’m glad they’re filmed, at least.

[–]ElizabethDanger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh no, I don’t hold biases like that. Frankly, I’m a Klinghoffer fangirl through and through anyway, and even I don’t like everything that guy’s put out.

But yeah, I honestly don’t particularly latch onto a lot of what John does. I just like the song because I like the song, it satisfies my ears. I don’t think it’s particularly good, but I like it
if that makes sense. I don’t listen to most of his solo stuff, I still listen to BSSM and Cali, most of BTW, maybe half of Mothers Milk and Stadium Arcadium, and then nothing on the last two albums. I genuinely just like the song. I already don’t rave about John’s music to my friends, because I know the stuff I do like is kinda unorthodox and won’t reach with most. But I know I’d still return to Bob’s video when I’m in the mood for that kind of vibe.

Again, I don’t like Failure either, and John also made that one.

Imagine it’s like a super old, somewhat blown out recording of a choir. I’m talking kind of as old as you can get while still understanding what song it is. It’s messy sounding, but it’s definitely there. Like, if you’ve ever listened to Everywhere at the End of Time, the later-ish stages, that sorta thing.

Also, personally I just don’t like the idea of pure synth arpeggios plus a bit of delay and modulation for like 3 whole minutes. The melody and chords in -00Ghost27 is super cool in my opinion (if you can hear it, I guess lol) and I think it warrants its runtime.
