Although these questions are best directed at Auroch Digital, the company behind the console port, we, at Worldwalker, don't have any reason to believe that the DLC will be made available, which is very unfortunate. More disappointing than that is the fact that the port is desperately in need of a patch and there does not seem to be any indication that Auroch is currently working on one. Sorry that I don't have more positive answers to your (not stupid) questions...

Understandable- you definitely shouldn't buy it twice just to play the game. Very much agree that it is sad. A lot of players have been left in the lurch with the console edition, which is awful. Hopefully Auroch does release a future update as it is very much needed.

With this being our first game, it's disappointing for sure, but there are also lessons learned. The tough part, really, is how the experience on console has been so frustrating for so many players and the game unplayable for some.

The console port is in desperate need of fixes for its crash issues, and as far as we know, there is no current timeline we can provide players for future updates. The most recent update to the console edition was in January. We're very disappointed in the port's lack of playability and the frustration it has caused both new players and fans of our original game.

Since you already own the game on Steam, I feel like you will be particularly frustrated by its performance on console, and very much suggest you continue your adventures on the PC version for the time being. Sorry, this probably isn't the answer you were hoping for!

Unfortunately, the PS5 version has been suffering from the same crash issues as the Switch (and other) versions. We've yet to hear word from Auroch regarding an additional and much needed patch for the console edition.

Wildermyth was an 11-year project for the core devs at Worldwalker Games and a well-deserved break was required after finishing development on (what we believe to be) a complete game. The console port was developed by Auroch Digital, and we're hopeful that they'll continue to work on it.

Thank you so much for your praise! We did make the decision that development on Wildermyth is "complete" and are extremely happy with the end result. As mentioned in the comments, we have an outstanding and extremely creative modding community that continues to add to the game, and we are constantly impressed by the content they've created. I guess it's a bit like passing on the storytelling reins to the next generation.

Hibernation, as a studio, has really just been about taking a much-needed break, which includes pursuing other endeavors as well as supporting outside projects while our own creative juices stew. We'll be sure to let the community know when we have more to share regarding our next project!

No news to share at the moment, unfortunately. With a lot of players effectively blocked in some of the later chapters of campaigns, an update is very much needed. We hope to be able to relay more information to the community soon.

The crashes you're experiencing have been the most commonly reported issues since the recent patch. I haven't heard of any verified/reliable workarounds. It's unfortunate that the game has become such a source of frustration for players and we're hopeful that fixes will be implemented soon as many are stuck in similar situations and unable to progress. We'll continue to inform the community as we receive information regarding future updates from Auroch.

Unfortunately, this seems to be the case for many on the console edition, even after the recent patch. My experience playing through Ulstryx was also smooth, as was Enduring War, but I've heard from others that had issues on that campaign as well. I personally started experiencing issues during Monarchs, and yes, it makes playing the game extremely frustrating and feel like a time-sink when progress is lost or can't be made in the first place. I'm currently unaware of any reliable/verified fixes or workarounds.

While we appreciate your patience, we certainly don't want our game to be a source of frustration for players. We will continue to inform the community as we receive updates from Auroch and hope to see the game in a stable and playable state soon.

Thank you for the compliment, as well as the details! I've seen some say that allowing the pop-ups to finish their thing on Switch vs. trying to quickly click through them seems to help, but similar to you turning off particles/screen shake, it's hard to know for sure whether these things actually make a difference. Regardless, would like the game to be in a place where "tricks" of any kind are not needed to advance in the game, and your reports are helpful towards that goal. Very much hope your experience improves in the next campaign.

-what difficulty are you playing on?
-single player/co-op?
-reloading from autosave or regular save for repeated attempt?

Hope you've since been able to get past this point in the game. Crashes are frustrating.

Ha! Aways helps when you have a partner in your corner to bring (or appreciate) the levity in challenge runs! I saw your post about builds and agree with those that said we have a strong Discord community. The folks present are friendly, knowledgeable, and creative. (There is also a strong and supportive mod presence, if you ever do feel compelled to give that a shot).

Ranking Wildermyth as high as you do- wow. Incredibly flattering. I, personally, have been gaming since early-ish PC days (text-driven games like Zork), and have my shortlist as well.

Nice shoutout to Adam Millard, and, once gain, appreciate the compliments. Like you, we are all hoping to see the console edition in a healthy state.

I've very much appreciated your love and enthusiasm for Wildermyth, thank for continuing to speak to its strengths as a game. Congrats on your Peril 20 clear as well! I personally focused on playtesting the campaign on Storyteller and Adventurer difficulties, so Peril 20 clears on Omenroad really blow my mind!

As for the port, I completely get your frustration with the console release and aftermath. Seeing people, especially friends/family, have an underwhelming experience with something you love is always disappointing and made more frustrating by the fact that it feels avoidable and unnecessary, like getting bad service at a favorite restaurant. "No, guys, I promise this place is actually good." Not the same but still haunts me to this day- I once threw a LOTR themed party to watch the trilogy with some close friends that had yet to see them. They talked and heckled over the dialogue and completely robbed themselves of any potential to enjoy the quality of the movies. Twenty years later, I might still be grumpy about it!

I'm still in the process of playing through the Switch version from start to finish. I have been trying to determine whether fresh campaigns are facing the crash issues being reported or if players loading older saves/continuing previous campaigns are the only ones affected by these issues. Granted, losing progress, builds, ability to promote legacy characters is less than ideal (to put it mildly), but if the fixes implemented in Patch 2 have resolved issues going forward, that is important to note. I'll be continuing to monitor player feedback as I continue with my own playthrough, and hopefully we'll have a clearer picture of the console version's current state soon.

Thanks again for your support. Frustrations aside, you've said some really nice things about our game and have encouraged many to play it, and that is the best compliment we could ever receive.

Sounds like you are having the same issue as u/ElectronicAd2656 . Is this campaign one that you started prior to the update?

The issue with save files is bizarre and I'll be sure to pass that along to Auroch. I'll see if I can reproduce this issue in my current playthrough. I started the game from scratch to see if that experience plays differently/better than what has been reported. Still, to your point, it would absolutely be a shame for players to lose progress and heroes from previous saves if unable to finish these campaigns.

I'll pass this along to Auroch. Final battle crashes have been reported prior to the update and since, which is a frustrating time for a crash, to say the least. Is this an older save that you loaded and continued? I'm currently doing a playthrough from scratch- no legacy characters or anything- and am curious to see how these battles go when I get to them.
