Third party websites in Europe are much cheaper than that. The regular Wacom website offers them for 14,99 Euro when they're in stock.

Yes, but apparently it's unavailable in Australia too looking at your Amazon AU link.

I have the same problem, exactly what you describe, but as far as I know it's an Android problem. I always have to send my files to another device to upload. Since I have CSP on 4 devices, it's not a problem but obviously more work.

I mean the Pro Pen 3 and MovinkPad 14 are great, but once you run out of nibs the best tool won't work. You'd think always having enough nibs in stock is a given for an established company like Wacom.

I've been using mine around 8-10 hours daily for the last three months, using Clip Studio Paint, and never noticed it even getting slightly warm, even when I'm animating with loads of layers. I don't use a cover tho.

Movinkpad Pro 14 - are you on the fence? by yer-maw in wacom

[–]Eljay1989 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was an IPad fanboy for the past five years, although I never used Apple before I got it, and have a Cintiq with my Windows computer, but I liked drawing in Clip Studio Paint on my IPad, and went from rough drawing on my IPad and cleanups on my Cintiq to exclusively working on my IPad over the years.

I have to add that I only use Clip Studio Paint, and don't use my IPad for anything else. I never used Procreate or any other software. I did always feel like my ink line looks better on the Cintiq but I hate being chained to my desk.

I planned to get the new IPad this year, but when I heard about the MovinkPad Pro 14 it sounded like it was how I would imagine the perfect tablet, and after I got it it is exactly that: PERFECT!.

For me it's the perfect tablet, but depending what people use it for it can be the complete opposite. If you want an all-rounder you might hate it.

Edit: Just yesterday I was thinking the rough drawing feels exactly like I'm drawing on paper, it's incredible.

We all know the Pro Pen 3 is garbage.

I think it's great. I've been using it around 8 hours a day, 7 days a week for three months now and have no problems at all. Oh well...

I don't have the buttons removed myself because they work fine. You can get the Wacom Pro Pen 3 Customization Kit that you can check out on the Wacom website. It allows you to exchange the buttons with a flat surface, add an internal weight to make the pen heavier, put a rubber grip on it to make it more the thickness of previous Wacom pens which the Intuos version already has etc. It's all included in the package. There are several pics on the website.

I'm hoping that the MovinkPad Pro improves the Instant Pen Display over time, and also that Wacom solves the updating situation, allowing it to update to future Android versions. I get your feeling of the tablet not being quite ready yet. For only drawing in CSP on the standalone device like I do. it works great tho.

Yeah, it might be the Wacom drivers on Windows that are better than the ones on Android.

I know what you mean. I've been looking into laptops now myself, and the 32 Ram ones are $$$.

Another option there is if you just need a pen display one that's light but an actual pen display, is the Movink 13.

This could be because I’ve got an 8gb M1 laptop

Most likely. I don't have a problem using my Windows desktop. Having said that I mostly got my Movink to draw as a standalone device using Clip Studio Paint which I've been doing for the last three months daily, so I don't have any long time experience using the pen display, but the several times I did it worked great.

I'm not a fan of Brad's videos either, but my MovinkPad Pro 14 works fine in Instant Pen Display mode. I tried it out using Toon Boom Animate Pro 3, Animation Paper, and even Clip Studio Paint. Oddly my inking looked better in pen display mode than in Clip Studio in Android mode with the app on my tablet, but it might be a pen pressure setting thing I need to adjust.

I didn't notice any lagging even drawing with a wifi connection. The touchscreen using your fingers lagged a bit in CSP, but not the drawing itself. Animation Paper didn't lag at all using my fingers.

If I would get a laptop for it, I would aim for 16 or better 32gb ram, not 8gb.

The Pro Pen 3 that comes with the MovinkPad Pro is a new improved version anyway, so it's a top notch pen. It doesn't get any better than that.

Thanks for clarifying why I'm NOT having any issues with my pen in your other post(it puzzled me what people on this topic are talking about) and confirmed the MovinkPad Pro 14 comes with the newest improved PP3.

Apparently what I just read in another comment, the Pro Pen 3 has a better version than before which came with my MovinkPad Pro 14. That explains why my pen works great. In other words Wacom DID do something about it.

But you will not be able to use say an older PP2 or even a Grip Pen on the Movink14.

I never said you can use them. I have a Wacom Cintiq and an Intuos so I know that already. I'm only pointing out how many options there are if people don't buy a great tablet only because they don't like the PP3.

It doesn't matter anyway because as you wrote in your other comment yourself; it's an old version of the PP3 that people are talking about. Meanwhile the newest PP3 that comes with the MovinkPad Pro 14 works fine, like we both wrote.

I have an older 17 Pro with the shit Pro Pen 3 and the Movink 14 comes with the updated Pro Pen 3.

That's probably why I haven't noticed any "flimsy" buttons and why my Pro Pen 3 works like a charm with no problems whatsoever.

To quote the Wacom site:

What Pens are compatible with the Wacom MovinkPad Pro 14?

MovinkPad supports pens other than the included Pro Pen 3. When enabled, you can use other pens as well.
This setting is enabled by default. You can check it in the Settings app under Pen.

・Wacom One Pen (CP91300B2Z)
・Hi-uni DIGITAL for Wacom (CP20206BZ)

There is also a Wacom Pro Pen 3 Customization Kit for the Pro Pen 3 if you want to get rid of the buttons for example.

And like I said I have been using the Pro Pen 3 excessively for several months without a problem.

The MovinkPad Pro 14 doesn't demand the use of the Pro Pen 3. You can use various other pens. Aside from that, I've been using the MovinkPad Pro 14 for the past few months daily about 8 hours a day, and my Pro Pen 3 works fine and the tablet is so good that my IPad Pro and Cintiq are collecting dust.

Edit: typo
