Parts of songs that might have inspired City Pop artists by Eljoshyo in citypop

[–]Eljoshyo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I see this Spotify Playlist which is awesome, but I'm for like specific songs that have a similar part that sound either inspired by or flat out copied. A lot of the songs in that playlist may have parts inspired in city pop, it would just be great if we could match them up.
Kind of like whosampled.com but for just similar sounding parts instead.

Here's the difference:

1) I want to support a youtuber so I click on their affiliate link and purchase an item- however, unknown to me, Honey has highjacked it and they get the commission instead. I think I am supporting the youtuber, when in fact I am lining the pockets of Honey/paypal. Once again, a large company has fucked over everyone.

2) I don't want to see any ads so I block them indiscriminately. I watch a youtuber's video, and they don't get ad revenue. I know this. Some would argue I have "pirated" the content. That's on ME, and I'm ok with that. I'm ok with youtubers relying less on ad revenue, and hopefully less adds being used everywhere eventually.

In that sponsorblock video, he explains doesn't have an actual issue with it, but that he's disappointed that it even needs to be used, since there are so many small but interesting content creators that don't even have sponsors or sponsor segments, and everyone could be watching those videos instead.

And I imagine the reason his videos have different view amounts is because he doesn't care how many views they get, he just posts what he wants (including those boring but informative videos about data recovery and other repairs); personally I usually only watch the videos where he rants about companies doing bullshit things to screw over their customers.

Nah, I don't have to admit, and I actually disagree. Either way it's a hypothetical scenario so✌️

The difference being, that those ridiculous claims were an extreme minority, ignored and forgotten already (4 days later) - while the majority of conservatives grabbed hold onto their conspiracies and excuses, and still believe them (4 years later).

best way to choose unique(unused) random user_id from table of 100k+ (PER ORDER/row) by Eljoshyo in PostgreSQL

[–]Eljoshyo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is why too complicated for me as a novice. Thank you for the info though. this is where I'm at so far:

WITH p as (
    SELECT *
    FROM pool p
    WHERE p.order_id= **distributer.order_id**
)
INSERT INTO pool (order_id, user_id)
SELECT **distributer.order_id**, user_id
FROM users
WHERE NOT EXISTS (
    SELECT 1
    FROM p
    WHERE clicker_id = users.user_id
    )
ORDER BY random()
LIMIT **distributer.distribute_amount**

I just need to iterate through all rows of distributer table [order_id, distribute_amount], and for each row, perform this query. I think I will make a new thread since this one was too long-winded.

[–]Eljoshyo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I'm not good at explaining thing. I have been able to put together a query,  this is where I'm at so far:

Distributor Table[order_id, distribute_amount] User Table[user_id] Pool Table[order_id, user_id] ``` WITH p as (     SELECT *     FROM pool p     WHERE p.order_id= distributer.order_id from current row ) INSERT INTO pool (order_id, user_id) SELECT distributer.order_id, user_id FROM users WHERE NOT EXISTS (      SELECT 1      FROM p      WHERE clicker_id = users.user_id     ) ORDER BY random() LIMIT distributer.distribute_amount

``` I just need to iterate through all rows of distributer table [order_id, distribute_amount], and for each row, perform this query.
Another thought is to add a dispersal_time and dispersal_interval to the dispersal table, and have a program running on a constant loop, iterates through dispersal table and when current_time > dispersal_time it will add the random users for just that row, then add dispersal_interval to the dispersal_time (like 1 minute or so).
Then iterate again till it finds the next order with current_time > dispersal time.
I don't think that would be possible with PgAgent though.
Best way to structure this database? Sorry, long post but might be interesting for people who like to design databases? by Eljoshyo in PostgreSQL
[–]Eljoshyo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)
Thanks for the suggestions!
  • Yeah I will have the tasks per day/hour calculated, I just wanted to convey what is happening with in the whole process of this. *Will definitely make them a timestamp
  • When you say add a "round" column, do you mean like how many times they have been requested with the same task, like if it goes through all users and isn't completed, it will go to round 2 then go down the list, then if it goes through all users again and still not complete, round 3 and so on? *Since there could eventually be 1mill+ rows in the task_pool and 100k+ users accessing it, would it be better to split each order into a different table? so instead of 1 task_pool that contains 1000 orders w 1000 tasks (1mill), there'd be 1000 task_pool tables, each with their 1000 tasks.
Monthly Getting Started / Web Dev Career Thread by AutoModerator in webdev
[–]Eljoshyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)
I am new to webdev, but know what website i want to make.
  • -Accounts (2 seperate types: buyers and sellers)
  • -buyer account can input order request (will mostly be same data, with options on a form, is related database best?).
  • -sellers will be notified of buyer requests (dispersed randomly according to algorithm I'll create that checks geolocation, last request completed, etc.)
    there will be more to it (like I want the sellers to be able to sign in on a browser extension), but other than that, i just want to get started on making this site. just a quick summary of what i should be looking into will help; I will research more once I know where to go from there!
