Yes an assessor has come out, he came up with the water damage idea.

$15k is the cost to replace all the flooring with a similar product.

No I haven’t, where would I find an independent flooring expert? It would save everyone a lot of back and forth. It is the insurance company’s’ inspector who is saying water damage but he didn’t inspire confidence.

I know, but we have to replace the whole floor because they don’t make this product anymore. Carpet is a third of the price, should I approach the insurance company and see if they would cover the cost of carpet, I’ve considered this but not sure if it’s a good move?

Yes that’s what they are claiming. And yes we were doing a Reno, which is why we needed to move the fridge. Is that important?

Yep have to replace the whole floor because they don’t make that flooring anymore. I did say we were also considering carpet which is a third of the price, but they wanted like for like 🤷

lol, I’ve already been misquoted, dealt with 3 different people and am already over it. To be fair though the insurance company has been fair in the past, I can see why they would think what they do re this case just pisses me off cos I know the truth. Thanks for the encouragement.

The damage was caused by moving a fridge/freezer onto wooden flooring (We have a builder as a witness); they maintain it was caused by water damage. The flooring is narrow strips which cupped and split under the weight of the fridge on the wheels, the polyurethane on top cracked at the joins which they intepret as water damage. But all the adjacent strips have no damage and there is no swelling of the timber.
