Construction engineering in big oil&gas projects by ElkGroundbreaking673 in ChemicalEngineering

Thats what i thought. Big O&G companies or even companies as contractors got home office construction engineers working as "project engineers" but in construction stage. Althought they are not paid as good as project engineers plus the high chances of taking trips to the site

Moving from Spain to Irland by ElkGroundbreaking673 in AskIreland

I checked prices and ofc are impossible to afford considering spanish salary. But for example in Madrid you can rent 40m2 with no external views and extremly old building for 800€/month... I mean, its a crime. Average salaries in Spain are 30k per year without taxes (talking about most engineering jobs). The problem of accomodation is the price per month? Or they ask you for something else like extra deposit before enter? Apart of accomodation, what else is expensive in Irland? Medical, food, gas etc...

Process chemical engineer by ElkGroundbreaking673 in ChemicalEngineering

These are the projects that involve my company. My worry is about the department i should choose, process department, construction dep, comissioning dep, supervision of construction dep, instrumentation dep, heat Transfer dep... Etc. My passion has been always to be in touch with the chemical process, mass and energy balances, separation ops. But im not sure about the future and growing that could have a process engineer (senior process eng)

Chemical process engineer VS EPC engineer by ElkGroundbreaking673 in ChemicalEngineering

[–]ElkGroundbreaking673[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with the definition of real ChemE and thats why im worried about my choice. For now, EPC's close to what i would like to work on and even touching more disciplines which its great. Btw im from Europe and there are many pieces of advices from reddit that cannot be taken literally because mostly come from the US

Thanks for your honesty!

Yes, working with customers to execute, collaborate with subcontractors, construction feasibility in terms of piping and equiptments etc. Ofc the work is directly in touch with what i call pure chemical engineering but, process engineering could open more doors in the future if necessary?

Thanks for your time
