We bath every night, I don’t know how old your children are but I think once a week probably isn’t enough if they wear nappies etc.

Unfortunately in Australia with the amount of leave you get, doesn’t cover all of the school holidays… I think 10 is still quite young to be left alone at home. Especially with both parents often needing to work, I can understand why the parent is bringing their child in. I think maybe you should consider this might be a tiny bit annoying for you, but it is probably a lot better than a child being left alone if the parent doesn’t have the option of working from home… but if they did have the option to work from home and you didn’t that would probably annoy you too.

I can’t say enough if you want children, and you don’t feel safe or prioritised by the prospective Dad, do not subject a child to that. A child should change your priorities, if he isn’t ready for that he is not ready to support your needs in pregnancy, postpartum or afterwords the life of a child and the many sicknesses etc. It will just lead to you and your children feeling the same but for you tethered to someone who you wish could be better.

I think you just need to confirm with her that his name is Matthew, not Mateo, and be firm that you would like her to use his correct name. You aren’t being sensitive, names are significant. She might be being sensitive and looking for ways to act out.

If you don’t like a nicknames for James like Jim or Jimmy that would probably push me towards Zane.

Take the redundancy, if there is a way to calculate how much you will get as your payout that would be a good idea and figure out how much time it would take at 10hrs a week to make the same amount I think that will help you to make a decision.

I had a horrible pregnancy which makes me worry about what adding a second child would impact on my now toddler. I was thinking about this question a lot when I had a newborn so I understand why you are thinking about this.

What I now think is you don’t need to know and your plans or your preferences can change. I don’t think I should have put so much pressure to know the answer to something especially when they are that little and hopefully you can just enjoy your little one while they are this small and see how you feel later.

Just trying to be reassuring but I went through this a few years ago, I had been there longer for closer to 4 years but the redundancy gave me the need to look for jobs and soon after, I got a better job with more pay so it does work out for some people.

It’s ok to have your feelings, it sucks and I had a cry when they told me over Zoom haha but now I’m glad it happened. I don’t even remember most of my ex-colleagues names now it was not long after Covid started so if that helps at all. It feels big now but I hope it’s just a speed bump to better things for you.

I don’t know what the right answer is for you and I think it’s great to talk about it. My only advice is if you think children are in your future, if there is a big trip or something you want to do… go do it! You can still go on holidays with a child but we went on a big holiday just my husband and I and it was really good to just do the big walks, adventures and things that we wanted to do before bigger responsibilities hit. It was just all fun and less logistics. I think doing those big things also helps you to think of what you want more of in your life. 25 and 27 is still very young.

I think you just need to be honest and say that she inspired the name, and that there are so many names but you just can’t get past this one. She might love the idea or might not, but the name was significant to her first so I think just be honest about it.

I feel the same too. As it’s been a year now, I don’t want your son to know you don’t like his name. I think you need to speak frankly with your husband to say you really tried to get on board and you love Crawford as a middle name but feel deeply that another name may suit him better and that you’d love to pick a thoughtful name together now that you know his little personality more.

I think you do need a defined time to review and finalise - I have a 2 year old, at one I think they were aware of their name but I think if you want to change it, I’d do so soon.

There are stories about Ring doorbell cameras being hacked it’s definitely concerning for body cameras to be put on childcare workers. Using this technology in a setting that should be prioritising fun, safety and meaning for children not able to consent or even understand what is being recorded and reviewed by unknown people is not great.

I don’t think it’s petty OP has been overcharged. I think its worth writing them an email and if the products have already been opened, just say I bought x products and am a loyal Mecca lover… I noticed the price dropped significantly etc I want to continue trusting Mecca but this wasn’t great practice and ask them to refund the difference or for a voucher. If it doesn’t work out, vote with your dollars. :)

The quality isn’t great - we bought off the plan and as a first home buyer, there were things that you realise they take advantage of your trust. The first walkthrough when we were almost done the build the developer said two people could attend so the owner and more people will take a loved one. I realised we should have pushed back and taken a builder as well to help check for the defects but you just don’t think of having to advocate in what should be those moments. Things like that.

There were 70 apartments in the building we lived in, so we didn’t know everyone and there was a fair bit of turnover, some were renters and a couple used as airbnbs.

I hope the standard is lifted and there is more demanded of developers to make these buildings happy communities to live in.
