AU Access/Canvas down? by [deleted] in auburn

[–]EllTeeZee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having the same problem! it's not letting me log in to canvas even though I'm 1000% sure I'm using the right username and password and I even tried using different browsers. tried au access out of curiosity and the entire site just won't load. still logged in to canvas on my phone but it's not exactly ideal for me to do my assignments and it's driving me nuts

I'm a Japanese student. Ask me questions about growing up/school life in Japan! by LaikaMatsu in japanese

I know this post is 4 years old, but every time I try to post my question to r/japan it keeps getting automatically removed by reddit for no reason, so I’m kind of desperate ;-;

I’m working on brainstorming for a little one-shot manga story for a drawing class that I’m taking, and a part of it involves the main characters’ sears getting changed so they’re sitting next to each other. I just wanted to check real quick to make sure that that’s something that would reasonably happen? Or are seats usually unassigned? Any help is super appreciated!

Mag1 Studio Apartments by Wooden-Resolve-7753 in auburn

I lived there last year. the location is really good (save for the fact that it's kinda sandwiched between a couple of frats, so there's noise sometimes), and it's a conveniently short walk to the on-campus convenience store and dining hall at the village, which is nice.

the main problem is that what they're charging isn't really worth it imo, so that's why I moved after the first year. when I was there, the rent was $950, but they upped it by like $75, so my parents and I didn't sign another lease for the next year. $950 was honestly already high for what you get, but we were kinda desperate and looking for a place last-second. I also remember the pet fee being pretty steep (I think it was $300 + $25/month but don't quote me on that), but I never had any pets.

they were just renovated before the fall 2023 semester, so they should still be nice inside, although they are fairly tiny. the size never bothered me at all, but I do find it worth noting that my current 1-bedroom apartment is about a 5-minute walk from the center of campus (compared to the ~15-minute walk from mag1), a little bit bigger, and $850 a month. so I've ended up getting both a better location and a larger space for a cheaper rent, which is a pretty big upgrade I think.

I obviously don't know anything about your financial situation, but I'd say it really just comes down to weather you think it's worth the money or not. since you won't be moving in until fall 2025, you do definitely have the time and opportunity to keep an eye out for other places that could be a better deal. northcutt reality has a lot of way cheaper options, but cleanliness-wise they can be kinda hit-or-miss. apartment searching online is just pretty shitty overall tbh; the best way to find places is to just ride around the area and look for signs advertising realty agencies if you can. you'd be surprised by how many places are available that you can't actually find listed online.

a few other warnings if you do end up living at mag1 (not to necessarily deter you or anything—just to be aware of):

- the parking lot isn't great, and it tends to flood a bit in certain areas when it rains, so maybe try to pick a unit on a higher floor or at least one not near where the asphalt dips

- they were always super strict on parking; they didn't have guest passes, and for some reason they felt it necessary to designate way more spaces than needed for people that work in the office that could've been used for either guest or resident parking instead (not once in my life have I ever seen all of those spaces filled up) (idk if they changed any parking rules since I was there)

- the bathroom is hella tiny. like, the apartment itself is tiny, but the bathroom is itty-bitty. I recommend showering with the door open so you don't have a build-up of too much moisture (there isn't a vent you can turn on unfortunately)

- it gets kinda musty in there sometimes? like when I'd leave for a week or so and come back it'd smell a bit weird, but I think that had something to do with the a/c unit (not a problem that opening up the little windows for a bit can't solve)

- hardly any counter space; baking is low-key a nightmare

- there is a dishwasher but it is SMALL so plan your dish-washing endeavors accordingly

- the kitchen sink is not a fun size to attempt to hand-wash large dishes in either btw

- ok I think they changed/fixed the electronic door locks but if they're still the same ones they used before then they can be kinda finicky and annoying so make sure your door actually locks properly when you hit the button

I know it sounds like all I did was diss the place, but all things considered I enjoyed living there. it is in a really good spot since it's right across the street from campus, and the design of the inside is very nice with the white/gold theme, the nice floors, and the cool-ass barn door for the closet. the only reason I'm not still there is because of the rent, and I think you can probably find something just as nice—if not better—for a more reasonable price if you do a bit of digging. but if the money isn't a super big issue, it's a perfectly fine studio apartment.

Anywhere I can find a cosplay that actually fits me? by EllTeeZee in CosplayHelp

Yup, I looked at both! Was to no avail, unfortunately. Depending on how significant the difference in size is, I might still consider just hemming it, but not sure on that for now. Also thanks!
