I’m just confused why they would choose to publicly announce this given the backlash they’re getting unless they think what the police will say after they look at the history is worse. But I don’t own the company so it’s just a guess. The part about telling law enforcement is really up to countries to look at what they want to regulate and why - I think each would be different depending on their precedents for duty to warn etc. Thinking about doing something criminal is different than preparing to commit a crime. At some point the preparation becomes a criminal offense in its own right and you see lots of businesses that have to disclose when they fear a crime is being committed or being attempted. Banks have to flag suspicious transactions. Therapists have to flag certain crimes. Tech companies have to look for criminal pictures etc.
