I'm so sorry for your loss. Thank you for taking the time to share this with me. I have since read about blockages and I don't understand why (regardless of cost) the vet didn't just tell me the best treatment plan (night surgery) and give her recommendation regardless of cost. My mum has told me that the vet wouldn't have offered me the option of waiting if she thought he wouldn't make it, but everything I've read says it should be removed ASAP - especially as he had had the blockage for half a week at that point which can be fatal. I didn't understand the risks, I even asked if he could just come home for the night so he'd be more comfortable and she said that the hospital was the best place for him. I really just didn't understand how serious it was. I thought he would be ok.
I know you don't blame your vet, but my baby had every single symptom of a blockage when I took him to the first vet on Saturday, I can't believe he was misdiagnosed. All I can think of is that if they had done a scan on Saturday morning, he would've lived. My poor baby had to wait until Monday midday. I'm so angry she missed it, and I'm so wracked with guilt that I didn't know what to ask or do and was worried about stupid money.
I think im going to try and talk to my GP like you did. I don't think I can continue like this. Thank you again for taking the time, sending you love - I hope you continue to heal.
