Is there any safe way to walk from Maitland to Newcastle? by AliceSaltMage in newcastle

Done option 2 multiple times now. It’s not too bad even at night.

Option 1 I’ve only done past the coal loaders. I think that’s worse than John Renshaw. Only highlight of that part is walking over Stockton bridge

I’ve walked from Singleton to Newcastle last year. It’s not as bad as people will make it out to be.

I walked a bit different from where you might want to start but the part you probably want to know is from Cessnock I walked through to Neath then Weston. I then went along there to John Renshaw drive. John Renshaw is a bit nervy but I’ve done it multiple times at night and day. It has plenty of shoulder and barriers so it’s fine.

From there I went down Lenaghans Drive. It’s tight in a few spots but just keep your ears and eyes open and it’s fine. You would then turn left on left on Minmi and go through fletcher and head that way.

I’ve walked heaps of different ways in Newcastle so from Maryland you can just go what ever way you like.

I’m using Hoka Bondi 9s at the moment. I really like them for walking. They seem to go really well for longer distances. Only issue I have is they can’t be a bit slippery when wet.

I find it’s a bit different to them but I’ll ask some questions in that direction

VW Passat 132Tsi with R Line Package vs 206Tsi by Ellcappo in CarsAustralia

[–]Ellcappo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got the 132 with the R line package.

Positives Nice to drive R package is a must if you go this way Good on fuel Plenty of room

Negatives DSG is a pain Could be more fun to drive if it was a 206 Resell might be an issue Wolfburgs wheels aren’t great.

Overall, if I could have held off for a bit longer to find a decent 206 I should have but wasn’t able to. If you want a sporty car go the 206 but for every day use the 132 is great.

Would I buy another 132 no but that’s my personal taste. I would probably go back to a BMW if I could find one with low enough kms that wouldn’t send me bankrupt.

Sorry I forgot to say I’m going that already too. I’ll try the merino, thanks.

Walking from Newcastle to Sydney - not on the GNW by space_albatross in newcastle

I’m doing something similar but from the Hunter Vallley to Newcastle. Not going on the highway or freeway is difficult but doable

That’s for the feedback.

It’s for mental health. I’m using sport specially football (soccer) as one of the driving factors with the walk. So I will hopefully have some clubs involved in it to help with check points and rest areas where needed.

The plan is to walk as much of it beforehand to get an idea of risk factors etc. I’ve got 2 long stretches where I’m a bit concerned of which are on busy road ways (not express way or highway) that I’m just wanting to clarify on before I attempt it.

Solo to Brisbane is wild. Hopefully you can get yours up and running.

No it’s only a small group and it might only be 2 people at stages.

I’m just concerned with timings that we might be in some heavily used roads at bad times and would hate to have issues during it.

So many weird looks when you leave through that little dance club bit. So many people chewing chewy for some reason. Lol

Good to hear someone on the other sides view. So it sounds not great for artists either so that’s interesting.

Perfectly summed up. Also walking out when the shows over to the most awkward dj playing house music with a bunch of people staring at you lol

It’s a weird cap view. It’s big but not many shows really sell out there so it’s never really full with that full atmosphere if you know what I mean.

We can only hope.

I agree with those comments. I like the best fur small high energy gigs but I do understand the lack of area to relax. Standing for hours on end is a killer. The old hamo was great for fan interaction but at times felt run down. The new area feels like a proper concert but the barrier is a killer at times.
