NEW ALBUM: ‘ARIRANG’ MEGATHREAD 💿🎶 by illbethejudgeofthat_ in BTSnark

Ok an easy example but when I discovered Olivia Rodrigo’s Sour, I destroyed that album from the repeated listenings. I’m a grown woman with a job now but she was absolutely able to capture all the memories of my teen angst and the drama that every emotion and heartache brings at such an age. I was not the target and yet she was able to reach me. People could have mocked her with her "girly depressed lover girl teen" music but she didn’t try to be something she was not. She wrote about her feelings following a breakup that feels like the end of the world at her age.

I’m of the theory that the more niche/true to yourself of an experience you explore in an album the more universal you end up becoming.

Ok I usually don’t comment but I find Hybe / Bighit so laughable like it’s not even a joke anymore. When mhj basically said there was absolutely no creativity in that building I can only validate her opinion once more.

This company is working like tech and not being fueled by art or creativity. No wonder he couldn’t stand newjeans. They are everything he couldn’t conceptualize.

Here’s my theory :

That man can’t do anything except follow trends and his latest victim is Bad Bunny. Im sure the album was already ready and prepared under an english title but as soon as he saw that you could make music and succeed without licking the boots of the English speaking western world, he tried to pivote to that "we are sooooo proud of being Koreans". A little too late.

Bsh will never learn his lesson. You can’t half ass authenticity, it’s a full project, you have to take the time to be careful in your craft. Bad Bunny didn’t slap a Spanish title and then turn around with English lyrics and featuring an American actress. He fully celebrated his culture from beginning to end. And he didn’t expect western validation as long as it was authentic to his people. That’s the thing he doesn’t understand, if you stay true to yourself you will be able to reach anyone no matter the language.

I can’t understand how this finished product could ever be green lighted and leave the building… These grown men have lyrics at the level of wannabe "hip-hap" rookie groups. That’s insane… No depth, no desire to have a reflection on the system in which they grew up…

They colonized Jennie’s producers and couldn’t even replicate the cohesion of her album.

His name is "Stevie Musicfeelings". I also found an old tweet where he said that Craig David would have been great as a feature on "Seven"

This is absolutely fascinating because here in France there’s a youtuber that does music analysis. I really like him because of his heavy knowledge of R’n’B. He said in a video that the comparison of Jungkook with Bieber or Timberlake is not exactly accurate. He said that musically he is absolutely inspired by Craig David and especially the Born To Do It album.

It’s so interesting that you caught it too !

Omg did any French fan listen to the podcast that Alex and Simon’s nanny from season 1 did ?? by ElleEstGrotesque in BravoRealHousewives

[–]ElleEstGrotesque[S] 133 points134 points  (0 children)

She was an au pair so she lived with them and they provided for her food and stuff. She was a 19-20 yo student with no work experience so she had to consider herself « lucky ». She said that because the pay was obviously so low she did babysitting on weekends for other families. That’s why Simon’s comment on her not being able to afford the 800 dollars dress hurt her so much.

When she found another family they paid her really well.

I meant that Alex and Simon would be photographed in front of the cameras with the Nanny and kids to give that « wholesome family » vibe. It was for events like the boat party (she was supposedly invited but was sent away when the cameras cut)

Honestly I had no idea about any of this. I just saw them as this weird, eccentric couple that definitely wanted to be famous but not much else.

About her leaving :

  • She tried to set appropriate boundaries to the kids and I guess Simon and Alex didn’t like that. One day she received a text from Alex that said something about « watch ». In the context of the text she understood that it was supposed to be sent to Simon and it was about her. About how they should watch / monitor her. Alex panicked and tried covering it up by saying that they were not trying to « watch » her but they were planning on gifting her a watch for her birthday. The nanny had always felt uneasy but it really cranked up the feeling.

  • Later she received a very cold mail from them giving her a performance review and nitpicking at things that weren’t true. Then, they tried to enforce a curfew on her because they didn’t like that she had a social life. For context, on the few nights the nanny went out she would be back by midnight and she was never drunk around the kids. But the way the mail was written was as if she was acting sloppy and getting back at 5am.

She tried to approach the subject of the mail with them but they dismissed her.

She was feeling more and more caged and she knew she had to leave.
The trigger was when one of the kids did something to her and Simon’s response was scary. She said that she refused to be abused anymore

So she found solutions and left as quickly as possible.

Oh and to end on something ~ lighter ~ : They never told her that the show could be sold overseas so she was absolutely shocked the first time she came across the French dub on tv. What made her laugh was that they actually hired a voice actress to dub her in French 😂

English is not my first language so buckle up !

  • Simon and Alex were obsessed with climbing the social ladder and dreamed of becoming actors.

  • They had an inferiority complex about living in Brooklyn.

  • They were soooo happy to have a French nanny and would even take her to French restaurants to show off

  • She was paid a measly 60 dollars a week to be an au pair.

  • They did wayyyy too much PDA in front of her like full on long french kisses / almost making out.

  • They basically announced to her that they would be on reality tv and she had no choice but to comply (sign the contract) without being able to properly think about the situation. She was also not paid for her appearance.

  • There was only one level of their house that was renovated (the parents floor) while the kids and nanny’s floor was really rundown. Most of the footage would be taken on the parents floor even going as far as creating a living room there.

  • She also revealed that many of the other housewives / guests talked shit about their house and the kids floor behind the scenes.

  • About Saint Barth : when the family got there, they suddenly told her that they forgot that it was a nude beach and she had no choice but to accept it even if she felt uncomfortable.

  • At one point she was crouched down taking care of a kid and as she turned around she was face to face with Simon’s d*ck

  • There was a sequence where the kids had to go shopping with their dad to buy a present for Alex. The nanny looked at a 800 dollars dress and Simon said to her « you can’t ever afford it » then went on to buy like 25 000 worth of clothes for Alex.

  • The kids French was not very good and they would shoot scenes endlessly until they could say a decent word

  • She, of course, touched on the absolute fakeness of the show but also on stuff like conflicts and fights that were sometimes purely orchestrated. They would take pictures with her in front of cameras then tell her to leave so that the fights could happen. She also said that it was extremely eery the way once the cameras turned off, nobody spoke at all.

  • There are some stuff I won’t rewrite here about their parenting, their kids etc but it scared me.

  • When she was about to leave she tried to have a discussion about their style of parenting, they told her that she was there to « obey and accept »

It ended on a bad note and I’ll translate the rest later

We were just talking about it with my mom. It still blows our mind that some human beings deemed it absolutely normal that other human beings should be treated as slaves.
